fiasco

I have been reading about the fiascos at the Olympics in Athens and I have come to the conclussion that the Olympics is no longer a place where I would ever want to be competing in any event, not winter or summer. Judges scoring higher because of "pressure" whether from crowd or outside sources it matters not, it is wrong. There is no uniform scoring and only a select number of people do the judging. The scores can be changed at whelm.

Another peeve of mine is the Olympics were originally supposed to be a showcase for AMATEUR ATHLETES. I think it is wrong for any professional to partake in the games. Yes, I know everyone wants to see their country win the gold but it is not fair to the true amateur to have to compete against someone that makes their living at the sport. The professionals have their own arena to do their thing in.

And one more thing I am so tired of seeing totally rude people in the stands. I will never watch the Olympics again.

  1. I havent even seen a single thing on them I havent been interested in years. Like probaly one time have I ever watched them. I think its too showy and some yes I believe is rigged and some athelites abuse and some abuse drugs. Its kind of like nascar. I love races but I like small town things where its not just money its common sense and abilty and know how. Lori PS SO I guess I totally agree with you.

  2. I've actually watched quite a bit of these Olympics.  I think that certain sports (such as gymnastics and figure skating) are very subjective.  It's almost as though they take your reputation and score you on that rather than your performance, which is really sad.  With the other sports, where you see athletes scoring and such, there is no dispute.  I don't know how they can get around the scoring for gymnastics though.

  3. I also think that the Olympics ought to be for the amateurs, not professionals. Gosh, I haven't watched them in a while, but I used to enjoy the winter games...also the swimming...just use to love the gracefulness of their strokes in water....( I can't even swim at all) and the  figure skating....I use to dream of being one when I was young! lol...this was before I found out I couldn't even skate on a sidewalk!!!!lol

  5. First, the possibility of doping just infuriates me

Second, I think Hamm should give the gold to that South Korean, it would be a wonderful gesture, it was not the athlete’s fault the judges made an error.  I would not want a gold that I know someone else really won.

Finally, I hated that those judges gave in to the crowd’s chanting and booing, however, Hamm performed remarkably well under the circumstances though, the change did not get the guy a medal, and that gold medalist was some good eye candy.

  6. SHEESH, I DIDNT REALIZE ALL THIS STUFF WAS GOING ON. BUT I DID HEAR ABOUT THE MEDAL THAT THE AMERICAN GOT UNEARNED. HE SHOULD GIVE THAT MEDAL TO THE SOUTH KOREAN. WHY WOULD HE WANT THAT MEDAL WHEN HE KNOWS HE DIDNT RIGHTFULLY EARN IT?
I ALSO AGREE WITH YOU IN THAT THE OLYMPICS SHOULD BE FOR AMATEURS AND I DONT LIKE TO EVEN THINK ABOUT DOPING IN THE GAMES. THATS JUST NOT THE WAY IT SHOULD BE DONE, AND THEY NEED TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS.
    QUICKLY!!!
    KIM.
