Vacation saga

The next day dawned pretty. After taking pictures we ate breakfast and went fishing. Pat was real cute in his shorts and boots. I forgot to pack our tennis shoes. LOL After fishing we ate a lunch, packed up and headed out.

We hopped on 411 and headed north towards the mountains. The day started out hot and muggy and soon cooled down. Everywhere we went it had just rained! Somehow we kept missing it. We found a Dairy Queen out in the middle of no where and decided to stop for an ice cream. After all it was our vacation. We decided to indulge a bit. While sitting there I looked out the window. On one side of the place it was pouring down rain. It had yet to get to the bike. We ran out to move the bike under a cover at the gas station next door. O dear. While sitting there I indulge a bit more. They had single pieces of chocolate covered orange creams. Yummy! The rain was short lived. It came hard and fast. After it was over we wiped the bike down and moved on down the road headed towards Maggie Valley North Carolina.

It was a beautiful ride lots of mountains and pretty scenes. We went to Tulula Falls where the Great Wallenda walked across the Tallulah river gorge on a high wire. The beauty of that place is breathtaking. the pictures do not do it justice.

After leaving there we headed out agin. After a bit we got to Maggie Valley and decided to just stay the night there and head out in the morning to the Smokies.

At the motel we headed to the hot spa and relaxed!

more on vacation(with pictures)

Will try this again. Lost my entry this morning due to a goof I made not AOL.

We left from Connie's house to head to my niece's house. On the map it is really not all that far. It took about 2 hours to get there. We went through several small towns on our way there. We took the bypass around Athens where the University of Georgia is located. Go Dawgs!

Finally we get close to their house and the GPS went crazy. Kept telling us we were not on a road. LOL There is new construction and it did not recognize the road yet. As we pull in their driveway thunder began booming and lightening flashing. It looked like the bottom was about to fall out of the sky. Liza told us that they really needed the rain. If it would then they would be able to not water for a day. No such luck, the rain passed by again.

Off we went for a quick tour of the farm We loaded up on a couple of John Deere Gators and took off. Over the hills we went boucing away. LOL It was fun. That evening we ate steaks from Omaha and Wilted Salad. After a late night of talking and watching movies we headed to bed. The next morning dawned clear and I went out and took pictures of trees, trees and more trees.

Picture #7 is Spooky. Spooky was my mama's cat that stayed in her lap after she died. Liza took him home with her at Mama's request. He seemed to remember me or maybe he thought I was Mama. I do sound like her and look a bit like her(actually a lot like her)

After a bit of fishing in the pond we headed out for the next part of our journey.

me and Carlene

vacation

Our vacation started out great! First stop was Carlene in small town Georgia. We had a great time there. I met her beautiful daughter also. All I have to say, if you ever get down to see her make sure you get some of the BBQ! It really is some of the best I have had. (Don't tell my sister! Her and her hubby own a BBQ place!) Meeting Carlene was like meeting an old friend. It was so comfortable. She really is like the person you read in her journal. Hugs to you girl! I hope to get back there soon!

In my last entry for Round Robin, some people commented about freeway driving. Normally we avoid the freeway. We went most of the way to Atlanta on side roads, but in order to get to where we were going and to arrive without driving twice as long (time was at a premium) we hoit the freeway near Atlanta. I hated it. I don't like it in a car or truck much less a motorcycle! Those people drive like idiots! It was not the out of state people either, it was people that lived there!

So anyway, after my delightful visit with Carlene I went to my best friend's house about an hour away from Carlene. There we stayed the night. We played in the pool and ate grilled chicken. The next morning I got up to go to church with her. It was a great place.

Then off to my niece's house. I will save that for my next entry.

Round Robin

Round Robin ~ transportation Riding down the road on the back of a motorcycle looking at the other of transportation out there. I do believe I prefer the bike! This was taken in Atlanta on a Saturday morning.

pasta diet

The Pasta Diet
1) You walka pasta the bakery.
2) You walka pasta the candy store.
3) You walka pasta the Ice Cream shop.
4) You walka pasta the table and fridge.
<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />
And for those of you who watch what you eat, here's the final word on nutrition and health. It's a relief to know the truth after all the conflicting medical studies:

1. The Japanese eat very little fat and suffer fewer heart attacks than Americans.
2. The Mexicans eat a lot of fat and suffer fewer heart attacks than Americans.
3. The Chinese drink very little red wine and suffer fewer heart attacks than Americans.
4. The Italians drink excessive amounts of red wine and suffer fewer heart attacks than Americans.
5. The Germans drink a lot of beer and eat lots of sausage and suffer fewer heart attacks than Americans.

CONCLUSION:
Eat and drink what you like. Speaking English is apparently what kills you.

Day 1

Day one of our vacation got off to a great start. First thing I did was give the dog a bath! LOL. After that I had to pick my crop of purple hull peas and put them up in the freezer. LOL Started my vacation with purple fingers! After feeding everything and watering everything, I finished packing the bike. Then we were off! First stop on my agenda was a small town in Georgia to see our very own Carlene of Horseshoe Bend. There we had a wonderful plate of some really tasty  BBQ! We had a great visit! will post pictures at another time(not on my computer). After that we headed to Covington to my best friend's house. There we spent our first night away from home.

I smell the coffee so it is time to get day 2 under way! See yall when I can update again!

My trip starts in the morning. Nope I did not get it all done. No way I can.

Excited

I am getting excited about our trip. Not only will I see my best friend, I will be seeing my favorite neice. In addition to that if Pat will do it I will get to meet one of my Journal friends! That one is still up in the air. I am hoping I can get him to change his time around a bit....

Lordy I find myself nesting though. I am trying to get the house cleaned up real good. Been shreading paper and stufff. i guess it is in case something happens, I don't want people coming over to a messy house and saying things after I am gone. Is that something all of us do when we get older or is it just me? O gee. I just realized that thinking that is a bit on the morbid side....

We are taking a tent and sleeping bags for just in case we decided to camp out somewhere. I am thinking of slipping in a small fishing pole also. LOL My list is made of what I need to take and it keeps getting longer. Dang I need to relax!

I am so sorry I have not been doing a lot of reading lately. I have got to reorganize my journals. There is no way I can read them all in one day so when I do get back into the rythmn of reading I will be placing everyone into a read on this day folder or something like that.

Ok time to drink another cup of tea and then get back to work doing stuff.

ROAD TRIP

In one week Pat and I are going on a road trip. Not a real long one but it is a much needed one. We are not exactly sure of where all we are going. One place is down to my friend's house near Atlanta, then maybe over to see another friend that lives about an hour away. After that up to my neice's house. She has a Christmas tree farm , 7 G's Farm, above Athens, GA. After we leave there we are headed to the Smokies. We will be entering from the North Carolina side. Not sure of where all we will be staying or how long we will be gone. I know we will check out a place called Tail of the Dragon. It is a motorcycle friendly place. Go here to see what I am talking about.

Well time for me to hit the road and start walking. I will be back later to update more.

lol

FACTS TO PONDER:

(A) The number of physicians in the U.S. is 700,000

(B) Accidental deaths caused by Physicians
per year are
120,000

(C) Accidental deaths per physician is

0.171.

Statistics courtesy of U.S. Dept of
Health Human Services.

Now think about this:

Guns:

(A) The number of gun owners in the U.S. is 80,000,000.

(Yes, that's 80 million..)

(B) The number of accidental gun deaths per year, all age groups, is 1,500.

(C) The number of accidental deaths
per gun owner is

.000188

Statistics courtesy of the FBI

So, statistically, doctors are approximately

9,000 times more dangerous than gun owners.

Remember, "Guns don't kill people, doctors do."

FACT: NOT EVERYONE HAS A GUN,

BUT

ALMOST EVERYONE HAS AT LEAST ONE DOCTOR.

Please alert your friends to this alarming threat.

We must ban doctors before this gets completely out of hand!!!!!

Out of concern for the public at large,

We have withheld the statistics on

lawyers

for fear the shock would cause people to panic and seek

medical attention

It is so hot today. I need to water my garden but it really does not seem to help it any. So dry out. It hit 100 before noon today. It is down to 98 right now.

Brook, Pat and I got out in the pool today. The water was so good. LOL felt like cool bath water. Pat had bought some water guns and they decided that I was to be the prime target! It was fun anyhow!

UHHHHHHH. Just had to run out and catch a horse. Precious got out. We had a break in the fence and I was hoping that the makeshift way I fixed it would keep her in. No dice. So there I was out in 100 degree weather mending fence and catching a wayward horse. I swear I will lock that fatty up if she gets out again!

The weekend? A bust. Would of had a better weekend if I had been in Hades and I am not talking the heat. I will leave it at that.

I need to do my 10 good things list again. I think I will try it here instead of a seperate entry. Too hot to reload page.

1. This is first day of a new week.

2. Brook was here all week until Friday afternoon. She always makes my heart glad.

3. My stitches are out and I can get wet. Dang did it feel good to wash my head again!

4. Put up a couple messes of Brussel sprouts.

5. For the first time my strip dumplings came out the way they were suppose to for chicken and dumplings.

6. My walking is staying on track.

7. I am getting caught up on laundry.

8. My A/C is working.

9. The lawn mower is broke. (A blessing because of the heat!)

10. I am alive ( had bad weekend and wished for a lightening strike)

That's it for now. Back to laundry room, dryer buzzed. After that who knows what I will do, maybe nothing. I will be alone soon.

I am free!

As of 30 minutes ago I am free. Yep. free from paying for ANY internet services right now. I signed on with another provider and have 3 free months and I spoke with AOL and am now free of paying for that.

I will be catching up on everything later on, Pat is off this weekend and I am not sure what will be going on.

another one

Well I was happy yesterday with my test score. Today I found out I really need to study up! I took AOL quiz for 8th graders and did miserable on it. Click here for that test if you dare!

A nerd test

The Stupid Quiz said I am "Pretty Smart!" How stupid are you? Click here to find out!

Leaving

Looks like I will be leaving AOL without leaving AOL! I am in the market for a cheaper internet service to use for dialup. AOL is way to high now and since I can get all the same things for free without changing anything except who I pay to dial up I am changing! Any suggestions?

just things

WOW times sure flies when your having fun. If you consider cleaning house, washing clothes, weeding, getting hot, cutting hands, etc fun! LOL!

So the week has been long. We did get the pool up. It took 2 days to fill it up, not because it is a big pool but because we have low water pressure. Brook has been having a ball in it. She has had a friend come over the last 2 days to swim with her. Now that the pool is up I have one more job to do... keeping it clean!

My daughter's car is broke down again so I have been going to get her every morning and taking them to work. and bringing them home. Yesterday I brought them here because they got off early and cooked dinner while they were in the pool swimming.  I made stuffed bell peppers, fried corn and Brussels sprouts, with all the veggies coming from my garden.

Pat is taking the week of the 20th off for vacation. Not sure of what or where we are going. I would like to go somewhere even if only for a weekend!

My walking is doing good. I can go for longer distances and faster but I do have to hold back some while walking with K, she is unable to keep up with me. I am riding my bike in the house to get in extra exercises!

Brook will be going back to Tae Kwon Do soon. Probably will wait until school starts back. the doctor gave her permission to get back into it as long as she does not do any handstands or stuff like that. He does not want her putting her weight on her arm for at least another month.

School starts back in 10 days for Brook. She is ready and waiting! 3rd grade this year. Dang they sure do grown up fast.

Well time to go. My walk was delayed this morning. It will be hot now by the time we finish. Catch up later.
