want tiny camera!

I wish I had one of those little spy cameras. You know , the one that is on the end of a fiber optic tube. I have this little bitty peephole in which I can watch the birds. Toaday I was peeking in just in time to see Chip(Daddy) feeding one of the babies. It was so sweet!

Baby #2 is born this morning! babybird #1 is still alive!

trying again

Here is our newest addition to our family! Meet babybird, firstborn of Peaches and Chip. Babybird was born yesterday morning. This picture was the best I could do under the circumtances LOL. They were headed back to the nest hollaring at me.

I have not checked today yet to see if Babybird made it thru the night. They are first time parents and I am not prepared to stay up 24 hours a day feeding a baby. They have to be fed every hour.......

I have been tagged not once, not twice, but THREE times! My Country Life, Life-N-Stuff, and Docklines have all tagged me so I had better get busy.

It goes like this:

1. Go th your journal archives.

2. Find your twenty third post

3. Find the fifth sentence of that post.

4. Post that sentence in a journal entry along wit these rules.

5. Tag five more people.

So I looked way back and got my entry.

I quote "Played with water and saw what power it had."

This entry was writen on April 28th, 2004. Read it again  or for the first time for some of you. Click here to go to it.

Quite a few have already been tagged. I will write those I tag.

results

My test results were negative!

yesterday

The picnic yesterday was good. It was not a romantic picnic (darn it!) It was the company picnic for where he works at. Pat won a door prize. Now wouldn't you lmow the year we go on a motorcycle he wins something! He won a chair. one of those fold up chairs that fit in a bag. I know I am supposed to know what they are called but for the life of me I cannot remember! They had hamburgers, hot dogs and grilled chicken. I was a good girl and ate the chicken, then I had a hamburger.... then I had ice cream and peach cobbler. Ok ok I was a bad girl. Back to the old grind.

Well we rode up there on his motorcycle. I did enjoy myself. The wind was whipping a bit but the weight of the bike(and our fat behinds!) kept the bike running straight. On the way home we took a round about way to get home. All that riding yesterday helped make me a bit more comfortable about riding. I did not have to poke him at all!

I paid this morning for my ride yesterday. My back was aching up and down. After I got up I worked out a lot of the kinks. Pat added some more air to the air ride to give me more comfort next time. I will be looking for a lumber pillow to put on the bike too.

Breaking news!!!!!!!!!!

Extra! Extra! Read all about it!

Brook has strep throat. I am glad that I decided to take her today instead of just fighting it out. Poor thing cannot keep her fever down or anything else for that matter. She promptly threw up her medicine right after I gave it to her, Phenergan time. Popcicles, Koolaid, and Jello, it don't get any better than that!

male or female?

A Spanish teacher was explaining to her class that in Spanish, unlike English, nouns are designated as either masculine or feminine.

''House'' for instance, is feminine: ''la casa.''

''Pencil,'' however, is masculine: "el lapiz.''

A student asked, ''What gender is 'computer'?''

Instead of giving the answer, the teacher split the class into two groups, male and female, and asked them to decide for themselves whether ''computer'' should be a masculine or a feminine noun.

Each group was asked to give four reasons for its recommendation.

The men's group decided that "computer" should definitely be of the feminine gender (''la computadora''), because:

1. No one but their creator understands their internal logic;

2. The native language they use to communicate with other computers is incomprehensible to everyone else;

3. Even the smallest mistakes are stored in long term memory for possible later retrieval; and

4. As soon as you make a commitment to one, you find yourself spending half your paycheck on accessories for it.

The women's group, however, concluded that computers should be Masculine (''el computador''), because:

1. In order to do anything with them, you have to turn them on;

2. They have a lot of data but still can't think for themselves;

3. They are supposed to help you solve problems, but half the time they ARE the problem; and

4. As soon as you commit to one, you realize that if you had waited a little longer, you could have gotten a better model.

Brook has an appointment with the Doc at 1:45. Her fever is now 103.9F after taking Motrin and Tylenol. I hate her feeling this way I wish I could make it go away.

My sweetie

My sweetie did a good job last night modeling. She wore a cream colored skirt and a green top. She had pretty pink cheeks. Toady we are dealing with fever and chills. I am not going to get much done today with going to her and holding her all the time. I don't mind. I love doing it. I do it when she is not sick so doing it when she is sick is just part of my day. First day of school she has missed this year. Almost got thru the first 9 weeks with no absences. Her school gives a prize to each 9 weeks to 2 students that attend everyday and have passing grades. She is calling so I must go.

motorcycle

Pat and I went on a ride today. He managed to get me on the back of his motorcycle. I am sure he has a hole in his side where I kept poking him! I have been terrified of motorcycles for a very long time. Back in my younger days I rode one as a passenger. Everyone kept saying how I would love it. Well.... I DID NOT! The driver sideswiped a car with my kne. I do not know how I stayed on. The second he stopped the bike I blacked out. My knee was already swollen so bad my pants had to be cut off. Until this week I never got on one again.

Pat was a careful driver, I was just a scared passenger. I did start relaxing. Maybe a few more times and I will let him go more than 5 miles an hour. Just kidding, he went faster than that! Actually I am looking forward to riding again. I hope that maybe he will want to do a bit of touring on it.

So time for me to go. Brook has a modeling gig tonight!

OK,I am ready to talk a little

If female medical issues make you uncomfortable STOP READING NOW.

This past weekend was a wonderful weekend with my family. There was one dark cloud on the horizon. Friday evening I experienced something that a woman that has had a hysterectomy is not supposed to experience. Today I went to the doctor. The news was good and iffy. No polyps (been better if they were there). He does not think( from what he can see) that I have cervical cancer. It can not be ruled out. So we are waiting on those test results. He did see bleeding but can not see where it came from. He believes that it may be a result of reduced hormone production. He put me on a hormone cream. I pray that he is correct. There was also some pain which he believes may be scar tissue building back up. I had a great deal of scar tissue when I had my surgery.

I will be okay. I know I will. I have to be.

It is a be happy weekend

This weekend, no actually this whole week has been good. Things have not always gone according to plan but so what. I have things to do, I have things to do things with. I am happy. I am loved. I feel good. I had back spasms that made me unable to even walk unassisted last night. Pat helped me to bed and rubbed my back. This afternoon I got a foot rub. I don't know who took my hubby but I am keeping this one!

Let's see where to start. Well I already have but I am going to back up some.

Birds~ Peaches and Chip are sitting on 5 eggs now. Chip sits on them far more than Peaches does. I have not been able to candle them. Everytime I go near the nest Chip runs back in there and sits on them.

Brook~We had her birthday party yesterday. It was at the skating rink. Not a real big turnout but she was happy. She got a big girls bike which she cannot ride yet. She also had gifts of dolls , money, and other stuff. The best thing was having a party and people showed up.

Buddy~ Buddy is going nuts! I swear he is. He has become the hardest playing cat we have. Also he has become a demanding attention getter! LOL He demands you pet him and rub on him. LOL. He has gained weight. He weighs closer to 10 pounds now instead of the 5 that he weighed at the vets office. His eating skills have improved.

Candiac is doing good. She has aced her courses in school. She is working 2 jobs, going to school fulltime and planning a wedding. She has a dress. His sister is going to do the food at the reception. I might be making the bouquet. She wants two, 1 to throw and 1 to keep. I am going to look for a way to make it, might order it instead. I know that there is a way to make the 2 together. Suggestions are welcomed!

Pat~ Ah Pat. What can I say. He has a new toy. Friday he bought a new motorcycle. Poor thing, rode it home and he has to to take it back. It has a water leak. Hopefully just a blown hose. If not then we will get our money back.

Pat attended church with me today. I asked him to come and he said sure! Surprised me. This is the second time in a month her has gone with me and they were not serving food!

I have a bit of reading to do. See yall soon.

smile

Jamie of Chasenkids stopped and took a look at the small things in life that brings a smile to her face. So I thought that I would look at my life and see what brings a smile to my face.

Things that make me smile

  • Brook sleeping on the couch
  • Thinking of Pat
  • that first drink from a cup of warm, creamy cappuccino
  • a beautiful sunset
  • a beautiful sunrise
  • horses running across the field
  • the smell of coffee brewing(even though I drink tea)
  • the little notes that say I love you Mamaw
  • holding hands with Pat
  • hearing Connie's voice when I answer the phone
  • "Hello skinny!" from Pat
  • when small kittens learn to rub on your ankles
  • seeing birth
  • remembering my parents
  • hearing Amazing Grace
  • seeing Sebastian look at Pat
  • watching Brook and Pat together
  • a hug from Brook
  • Buddy curling up with me
  • The birds flying around the room
  • curling up in Pat's arm
The more I think the more I can find. When people talk about the finer things in life they are talking about things that you can buy. As I look back over my list I see that there was nothing there that cost money. The finer things in life are not what you buy or pay somebody for. They are things that are dear to your heart, things that make you smile. Each and everything on my list made me smile once again just thinking of them and writing them down. What makes you smile?

a quiz

Take the quiz: "Which Horror Movie Are You?"

Carrie
You feel like a total outcast. Your whole life, you have been walked on and pushed around, and you're tired of it. Your life is spent indoors, by yourself, reading or just sitting, doing nothing. You feel like you've been rejected by the world, and that there is no point in trying anymore. You're a loner, and in desperate need of acceptance.

That was me and sometimes still is.

Candiac has her wedding dress now. I found a beutiful dres in a resale shop and it fit perfect! LOL It was a size 16. She kept saying it won't fit but it was a great fit!

I did tell everybody didn't I? She is getting married Oct 29th.

There are now 3 eggs in the nest.

Brook says thank you for all the birthday wishes.

I laid my head on Pat's shoulder yesterday and was stung by a bee. No swelling today, it just feels like I have a bruise in the middle of my forehead!

Brook just informed me that the kids at her school donated their ice cream money this week for Katrina vicitims and raised $1309. They will be collecting again next week. Yesterday I carried cupcakes into the school and saw kids walking by dropping their money in the jar. These are good kids at her school. They are poor kids, moneywise, but rich heartwise!

today

Today is a happy day. Eight years ago today the most wonderful thing happened to me. My daughter gave birth to  Brook. Today she is eight years old.

I remember the day she was born. I walked into her mother's labor room and she was hurting so bad. I asked her if she had been given anything for pain. She looked at me with amazment and said that she did not know she could have anything! Soon afterwards she relaxed. LOL Watching the monitor I could tell something was wrong. The heart rate kept dropping lower with each contraction. The doctor came in and told her that a C-section was going to be necessary. He did not tell her why, at least not exactly. He did not want to cause a panic. She had known that one was possible the whole time she was pregnant so she was already prepared for it. So into the O.R. delivery suite we went. Just a short time later I watched as Brook was brought out. What a blessed sight it was! I watched as they cleared her mouth and saw her take her first breath. The cord was not wrapped around her neck as feared, instead it was wrapped around her feet. It had prevented her from dropping down and helping the dilation process. It had also interfered with her blood return to her heart, acccounting for the drop in rate. Her little feet were blue for a few days because of it.

I look at her now and thank the Lord everyday for bringing her into my life. I  think I am even looking forward to when she becomes a teenager!

For readers that do not know.... Chip and Peaches are cockatiels.

feeling good

We have eggs! For the past couple of weeks, Chip has been working his little tail feathers off fixing a nest to his or Peaches satisifaction. Saturday evening, Chip started doing this dance back and forth on a perch while Peaches was in the nesting box. After a while Peaches comes out and Chip goes back in the box. Pat said that he then started singing the sweetest song he had ever heard come out of Chip. Last night the same thing happened. I took a little peek in there this morning and there are two of the cutest little eggs. I do hope they are fertile. Pat is so happy. He just knew that Peaches could not lay any eggs. I knew it was because Chip was too young to be a daddy. I swear he spends more time in the box than she does. Now I need to learn a bit mre on what I need to provide for Peaches for when the eggs hatch. I also must be prepared to feed babies if she does not feed them. from what I understand handfed babies must be feed every hour for the first couple days. That will be a trial! I am not ready for that! I also do not have an incubator to keep them warm if Mama and Daddy don't do it. So on to an search to see what I can find out.

Pat and I went shopping yesterday. We were looking for a gift for Brook and he found something for me! I actually got 2 new outfits! So now I have 1 new dress and 1 new skirt set that I can wear to church or out somewhere( if I ever get to go anywhere!) Now anybody that knows me knows I never buy anything for me. I might go looking for me but I buy for someone else. We also got a cordory jacket(blazer) for me to wear also. Another thing we got was a very heavy duty vinyl bag for trick or treating. AND I got a candle from a craft show that smells like red hot cinnamons! I racked up yesterday! I felt bad after getting these things because I then came home and saw the news.

Pat and I had a good weekend together. I hope the rest of the wek goes as well as it did.

Thursday, September 1, 2005

I went this morning and gave some cat food, toliet paper and water to a collection site for victims of Katrina. I cried all the way home. I want to do so much more.

On the news last night they showed some of the refugees that are here in our area. One of the hospitals in the area made food for them and collected stuff for them. All of them were elderly and/or sick people. They all required medicines that were not enough to last them for how long they will be here. The hospital gave them enough for a couple of months. The oxygen supplier in town is going to fill up their oxygen tanks for them. The city of Cahttanooga is opening up  some of the low income units for survivors of Katerina. All you need is an ID showing that you are from there ( and some money of course).

I feel my heart breaking everytime I see the news or read anything.

Why does a looter need a big screen TV in a place where there is no electricity?
