I survived

I survived I think. I have muscles that are sore where I did not know I had muscles! Frankly, it feels like I have been beat up with a 2x4! I spend 8 hours of picking spent blooms off off flowers and pulling itsy bitsy weeds that were growing in the beds. 8 hours of bending over and scooting on the ground. It was hot and humid. I will do it again in a heartbeat! LOL
Ok I need to get busy. I have got to work some of this soreness out of me and clean house.
P.S I will be working a couple days next week too. This time I will be doing grout.

new day

I cannot believe I am about to say this... I leave for work in about an hour. You heard me. I am working today. I have not "worked" in 15 years! It is only 1 day, but it could lead to more days in the future. I will be pulling weeds out of planters and plucking dead flowers for 8 hours at least.

has anybody checked out the new moods? They are awesome!

Black Belt

Brook now has her First Degree black Belt in Tae Kwon Do. It has been a long hard journey to get to this point. In July 2004 she started her first class. Time goes by, test after test she slowly progresses. In the first year she goes from white to yellow, yellow to orange, to purple, green and finally blue. The blue was a hard one. That test she took with both of her arms encased in casts. Nothing was going to stop her. She had a goal. She joined the demo team, performed in talent shows at school. She performed in a national  kid's talent search. She has performed at the Riverbend and will once again go there this year and perform.  Last year just 2 weeks short of taking her finial test to get her black belt she broke yet another bone. This time she doubted if she would ever be able to make her goal. Friday she realized her goal.  It was a day of blood, sweat, tears and smiles. My sweet darling made it.

The statistics on sanity are that one out of every four Americans is suffering from some form of mental illness. Think of your three best friends. If they're okay, then it's you.

Birthday

Today is my birthday. I am 49. Wow! there were times I never thought I would make it to here. There were other times when I wished I would not make it to here. So what will happen today? Nothing as far as I know. You know what I will miss this year? My card from my mama. Every year I would get a card in the mail with $20 in it. It is not the twenty I miss it is the card. Many a year went by with that being the ONLY acknowledgment of my birthday. Ok change subject this is getting down.

In one week Brook will be taking her black belt test. You are all invited.

see what I got

I got flowers today. Only the second time in my life that I had flowers delivered to me. These are from my sister Rebecca and my niece Liza and my nephew Doug and his wife Michelle. Thank you for my beautiful birthday flowers.

shopping

I went shopping for groceries this morning. What a horrible experience. $100 dollars went no where. My budget in stretched tight and I cannot buy name brand stuff and expensive cuts of meats. I honestly do not see how people that have lower incomes can buy anything. Milk is $5 a gallon, eggs $1.75, a loaf of bread is $2.50. Every time I go to the store I feel as if I have been violated. Where does it end? I hear people saying well I guess I will lose weight now. I don't think so. The price of junk food is not going up as fast as food that is good for you. That is something else. Why is organic food so high? They do not have the expense of fertilizers and pesticides. Angus beef is something else I have a problem with. It really does not taste any different then any other beef.

Gas is $3.69 cents here today. We now pay more a month for gas than we do on our house payments. Where will it end? Never. Some friends of mine are taking their son on a cross country trip this summer. I asked them how could they consider it with gas so high. The answer was that when their son is old enough to do ithis own  on he will not be able to. Can you imagine what the price of gas will be  10 -20 years from now?

I don't know, I just don't know.

Happy Mother's Day

Happy Mother's Day
You know you are a mother when you're up each night until 11 PM vacuuming, dusting, wiping, washing, drying, loading, unloading, shopping, cooking, driving, flushing, ironing, sweeping, picking up, changing sheets, changing diapers, bathing, helping with homework, paying bills, budgeting, clipping coupons, folding clothes,
putting to bed, dragging out of bed, brushing, chasing, buckling, feeding (them, NOT you), PLUS swinging, playing baseball, bike riding, pushing trucks, cuddling dolls, rollerblading, basketball, football, catch, bubbles, sprinklers, slides, nature walks, coloring, crafts, jumping rope, PLUS raking, trimming, planting, edging, mowing, gardening, painting, and walking the dog. You get up at 5:30 AM and you have no time to eat, sleep, drink or go to the bathroom, and yet ... you still managed to gain 10 pounds.

bike

Today started out good. Pat and I went on a motorcycle ride but I forgot my camera. There really was not anything to take pictures of anyway. Things were going good until we came to a stop and the bike fell over. The road sloped just right to not be under Pat's feet on one side and down we went. I was not hurt in the drop but Pat was hurt in the process of picking the bike up. Silly man tried to do it before I made it off bike. He was trying to pick up over half a ton by himself. Silly man.  We made it back home and now he is in bed. I gave him pain pills to knock him out.
S it is tv for me tonight and games of course.
take care. Hope all moms have a wonderful day tomorrow.

Play please

gettin things done

The weekend was a busy one. I did not do any walking but I did keep active. We had a good rain the first half of the day. Not enough to soak things but there was enough to water the garden good. The plants are growing nicely. My big surprise was a peach! that's right I have a few peaches on my tree. Maybe, just maybe, I will actually get some peaches this year.  Yummy!

I started cutting grass Friday. I said started. I got the back yard cut and around the peach trees cut. I started cutting the garden area and that was it. I ran over some wire and that was the end of my cutting. I thought, no problem. I will just get the wire off and finish up. I unwrapped wire from the blades and there was still wire there. I could not get it all off. So I got out the ratchet set to remove the nut that holds the blade on. I drove the mower u p on the ramps and started working on it. What a struggle. Pat had it on so tight that I could not get it off. I pushed and pulled, even used my legs. It was a no go. All I got out of it was bruises on my arm, cuts on my hand and grass in my face. So I said to myself, ok, no problem, Pat can do it tomorrow. I will just use the weed eater. I mixed up some gas for it, replaced the primer button with the new on(the old one had cracked), and cranked it up. The darn thing would not stay going. So I check it over. The intake tube is split! then I see the filter floating in the gas tank not attached to anything. Now I have to use the short weed eater! Kind of frustrating when everything starts falling apart just as you start working. I have everything going again except for the weed eater. I still need to get to store and buy some new tubing for the intake.

We got the tractor going Sunday. Hooked up the cutting disc and worked on the garden.  We are having a bit of trouble with the tractor. Thinking maybe something is in gas tank because it tries to stop when we go uphill. After cutting the ground up pretty good I hooked up the tiller. We ran it until the battery went dead. I was going to finish yesterday but the battery was still charging. All I have is a trickle charger for the motorcycle. The big one died. Not a good year for equipment. I will be finishing up the garden in just a little bit.

We went for a bike ride Saturday. It felt so good to have the wind on my face again and the power of that bike between my legs. I thought it was so appropriate when the radio(yes we have a radio on the bike) started playing "Born To be Wild" I would love to get my own bike. I am looking forward to traveling the country on our bike. I am ready now! Just need to figure out all the places we want to go.

Tonight is Brook's first test towards her black belt. I think I am more nervous than she is. The next couple weeks are filled to the brim with stuff. 4 tests in 3 weeks, 2 school projects due, field day Friday at school, I will be totally grey headed when this is all over with!

Scampi is sick. That dog is so sensitive. yesterday he refused to eat or drink. he had fever all day. I gave him antibiotics. I have a 5 day supply here. I think it is his umm, male parts again.  I am making him drink. I have a bottle with a hole in the top and it dribbles in his mouth and he swallows.
He is doing better today but still not eating. He is moving around some today.
Okay, time for me to get busy. I need to eat and then outside to the garden. I hear the call of the tractor. (yes I really like riding it). And yes I did walk 2.1 miles this morning.

oops

Weighed in this morning. My weight was 190. It is down 3 pounds from last week. It is not an actual loss. Why do I say that? Well last week was water retention week. The only good thing I can say is I am not gaining. Need better control of hand to mouth movement.

I walked 2.1 miles every day this week. I am proud of myself. Today I walked alone since K did not feel up to it. I took Scampi with me for companionship. LOL.  I am enjoying my walks. I made it today in 45 minutes. I can walk it faster without K. I could walk it a lot faster if it was flat ground. The beginning of my walk is downhill, my driveway. Next comes a hill that is a steep grade uphill. It is short so there are no brake warnings! LOL There should be. I'm telling you the cars can really get some speed going coming down it.  Once past that hill it is a gradual uphill then it drops down. The last leg of the first mile is flat ground. Now the turn around and back up the hill LOL. Today I had a variety of smells to tickle my senses. The pleasant scent of fertilizer whiffed though the air causing my nose to crinkle. Next the wonderful smell of bacon (on the hoof) assaulted my senses. Soon afterwards the sweet scent of rotting flesh greeted me. All I can say is, good thing I have a strong stomach!

Brook is working hard at her black belt training. The first test is Tuesday. That test will be testing her on forms, grab techniques, knife defense, and throws.

We got the part for the motorcycle. Now all that is left is to put it on the bike and it will be ready to go. With gas over $3.50 a gallon we need it back on the road. With the bike we will be able to go places on the weekend, maybe take a short vacation.

Time for me to get busy. I have lots to do before the weekend gets here. I need to shampoo the hall again and finish the living room. See y'all soon.
