my day

Today was a quiet day, sort of. Started out that way and ended that way. In the middle Brook decided that she could get away with telling me that she did not have to do what I told her to do. So.... I told her she had to go to bed. She told me that she did not. I won. Did not have to spank her either! LOL I told her that if she did not go get in that bed right now that I would call her mama. LOL That did it. After that everything went fine... with her. Then Pat decided he was going to be in a bad mood. I handed him his lunch and told him to go to work. He of course was gripping all the way out the door. Later on he called and said sorry. Good thing I was in a good mood.

After Candy came and picked up Brook I went out and started cutting in the fields.

I love getting on the tractor and cutting the fields. Just riding around having little bits and pieces fly up and hit your back. LOL No really, I don't mind. It is even funny hitting the fire ant hills. I try to run over them with a tire before hitting them with the Brush Hog(mower). It is not fun having a bunch of fire ants hit your back! One thing I have learned is to cut going away from the house. If you start cutting away from the house and head towards it you will send all the rats running that way. Start close to house and send all the rats running towards the creek!. I saw lots of rats today and at least a dozen rabbits. The one thing I did not see today was a snake. Usually I see at least one black snake slithering across the field. I did see a hawk flying over.  I suppose I was disturbing his dinner! The horses did nothing for the longest time while I was cutting then all at once they started kicking and running around like fools. Decided that I was invading their space, I suppose. LOL I rode until dark, lucky for me the tractor has headlights!

That's my day and evening today. I am going to get in there and shower to get all the dirt off of me. I think I will do this again tomorrow.the cutting not the fighting.

10 good things

It has been awhile since I have done my 10 good things. I must get back into the habit. It is good to look back over the past week and find those things however small they may be.

10 Good Things: June 19-25, 2006

1. I faced an abuser in court and helped get him locked up for 10 days and court ordered counseling.

2. Rain finally fell on my part of the world and the ground drank it up. My corn is no longer parched.

3. Pat still has a job even though he is back on second shift.

4. My air conditioner worked this week while the temps were over 100 degrees.

5. I made over $120 recycling my drink cans, copper, and brass.

6. I lost the weight I had gained. I am done to 175 again.

7. They caught the kids that were involved in several gang shootings last week. Yes kids, 15, 16 and 17 years old. Gangs. 13 year old shot and 2 other dead. The 13 year old was not in gang.

8. My keyboard still works after getting coke spilled in it.

9. I visited with my friend and had a really good time.

10. I remembered and told stories about my mama and did not cry.

Something to ponder

hot

It is so hot today 102 degrees right now.  Everything is melting. Heck my sweat is sweating!

Yesterday was a good day. My girlfriend and I went out to see a movie, Ice Age 2 at the dollar show. Yep I guess we are cheap even though popcorn and 2 cokes was $13.75! Ouch! It has been a long time since I have been to the movies! We also went out to eat at a place where appartently the word service is not in their vocabulary! NO tip there. Afterwards I visited with her father. He is the one with cancer. He is not doing well. I would be surprised to see him make it to Christmas. Yesterday was a good day. He talked with me about fun times he had with my mama, working in the garden and other topics.

A good day. After seeing him, I will be working to make sure that I have more good days than bad days. I want more good memories than bad ones.

Comfort Zone

" If we're growing, we're always going to be out of our comfort zone. "

- John Maxwell.

This is so true. As I look back over the times in my life I can see that the times that I grew. (And I am not talking about getting bigger) Yesterday was one of those days. Comfort zone would have been stay at home and not put my head on the line by testifying. I realized afterwards that I am so much stronger than I used to be. I have been in abusive relationships, I managed to walk away but not to ever do anything about them. I know that this was not exactly the same thing because it was not my relationship, but I did help do something about it. I know I now have a target on my back but I could not let fear of that stop me from doing the right thing. I know that I grew as a person because I stepped out of my comfort zone yesterday.

home again

It feels so good to be home!

Went to court today and boy was that a drawn out ordeal. F's attorney had poor K in tears and her chest hurting. Luckily the judge stayed on top of him and would not allow him to continue to badger her. K had a lawyer acting pro bono thank goodness. He is one to stand up for women's right to not have to live like that. I was called in to testify and I wanted to laugh at him because he could not rattle me. He tried and little did he know I was like a bowl of jelly inside! It threw him off that I would not look away from him and stayed calm and firm. The judge got onto him for badgering me also! LOL. In the end F was lead out of court in handcuffs and hauled away for 10 days. He has also been ordered to take anger mangagement classes and something else, not sure exactly what. If he does not then he gets lots more jail time. So we have a 10 day reprive and then no telling what will happen. This is not a stable person, not crazy because he does know right from wrong or he would not try to provide a fake alibi.  I will be careful. I have to be. I want to harvest my garden this year!

I want some rainnnnnnnnnnnn.

not looking ...

It has been a long, hot summer week and weekend. Sooner or later we are bound to get some rain. I smelled some today but it never made it to the ground at least not where I was at! We really need some.

Court tomorrow over the Contempt of court charges against F. Not looking forward to it. This person is dangerous but I will not allow him to scare me from testifying if necessary! I will protect my family. Been doing some updating of my skills. I was satisfied this weekend. I did get 15 bullseyes in a row on the target. That is one clip on the 9mm.  I also checked my skills on my Colt 357 mag and my 20 gauge shotgun. My .22 Ruger seems to be pulling to right, maybe because it is so light compared to the rest of them. Oh well, aim for the left eye hit the right..... No I am not looking for trouble, but I will not run. 911 will be called first if at all possible. My phone never leaves my side and 911 is on voice dial and speed dial.

Time for bed, I hate to have swollen eyes from lack of sleep.

Britney

I saw the Britney interview and for the life of me I could not remember why she is supposed to be famous.

Horses

I was going to take the horses today to the vet to get their Coggins Test. This prove to be a futile exercise. Crystal started rearing up so there was no loading her. Precious loaded right on the trailer then after she was hitched in there she started panicking. Luckily I was able to calm her down enough to release her without anyone or her getting hurt. The reasons of Precious panic attack goes back to here Precious and here is some more, and here. That was the last time she was on a trailer. As far as Crystal we have no idea what is wrong. She used to load with no trouble but now she fights. All I wanted to do was save about $100 by taking them there not having vet come here. How am I supposed to take them anywhere if I cannot get them to load?

o well I guess I will get back to my interupted cleaning. I hate cleaning. I need to be rich and have a full time housekeeper!

bones and stuff

Took Brook to the doctor today and she had new x-rays taken. The bone had shifted a tiny bit but not enough to warrant re breaking it and doing surgery. It is still in a straight alignment. No surgery! She gets cast off July 7th if there is enough healing. After that she will be in a brace splint that can be removed for bathing and eating. Little stuff it can come off for.but it has to be on for outside and other stuff. He told her no picking anything up with that arm now or after cast is removed. The good news in 3 weeks she can get in the pool! She will be so happy!

Here she is in her red cast and new kittens. Aren't they cute? Susie sure can produce cute babies no matter who the daddy is! LOL

My friend K is doing much better. Still working on getting herself back mentally. Everything is still in havoc but she is surviving. Pat is going to fix her water tonight when he gets home. We got her a box fan to move the air around in the house. Trying to find a refrigerator for her. She has no money right now. Her sister sent money to have alarm system turned on. We go to court next week and see what happens then. Still no arrests on the arson job.

Pat goes back to second next week. I am going to hate it. I will be spending a lot of time alone after that. Brook has been staying at her mama's more now even though she begs me to stay here. This week she has been wanting to go there because they have been going to Riverbend Festival most nights. Tonight is Trisha Yearwood. Closing night is tomorrow with the Allman Brothers and fireworks. Kenny Rogers, Angie Stone, Hank Williams, Jr, Audio Adrenaline, Los Lonely Boys and Sugarland were just a few of the many performers this year. $30 for 8 days of concerts is a pretty good deal I think. In all I believe there are over 100 bands and performers in the 8 day period.

Belle is happy. I went to see her today and she is being petted to pieces.

That's it for now. Time to get busy and get cookies out of oven (White Chocolate Macadama Nut)

Happy Flag Day

  Happy Flag Day

catching up

So much going on here. Some people might want to skip first paragraph.

I went to the doctor yesterday for a follow-up on female exam. Good news I guess. Turns out that I will have mini monthlies because my cervix is still in me. I also have polyups there, non cancerous. I did not realize until yesterday WHY I still have my cervix. Turns out I had so much scar tissue that my cervix is bound to my colon and removal of it would or could cause major problems for me.

Brook is doing well. Her arm does not hurt her anymore. We go Friday to get more x-rays to make sure everything is still in place. She misses her Tae Kwon Do. I miss going to. I really enjoy seeing all the kids work out and play.

Pat has been back on first shift again. This may be his last week there though. The man he is working in place of is supposed to be back next week. He had to take time off to finish up his chemo treatments.

K is at her daughter's house. The day we took K to hospital her house was broke into again and the thermostat was turned all the way up. Does not sound like much but it turned out to be. The next day the state arson investigator came out to check out the fire and get all the info. The smoke detector had been tampered with(battery removed). They also found that someone had destroyed the lines on her heat pump! The raising of the thermostat was just a cover-up! The unit could very well be damaged beyond repair. So now, no refrigerator, no water, no A/C and no heat. She has no money as she is waiting on her disability to get fixed.(Ex hubby screwed that up!). K's daughter and I got the protection order amended to include the street in front of her house. They are trying to get him to come in voluntarily to take a polygraph test but so far no dice. The ex has already gone in to take one. This man, and I use that term loosely, needs to be stopped.

Time to get busy. Garden is calling, and so is cleaning out fridge and going to the dump and laundry. Ok I am tired now LOL.

a lot going on

There is a lot going on around here. I have a friend K that is a good person. Because she is a good person sometimes bad people are attracted to her.

There is a man (we will call him F) that she told that she only wanted friendship with because she had just gotten out of a bad marriage and an even worse divorce. F decided that K was the one for him and started to try to place controls on her. Things like telling her who she should see and talk too. I was one of the friends he decided he did not like. Now this happened in a matter of days(the control thing). She told him that he could not tell her these things and he needed to leave. He started in on how he loved her and everything would be okay. She again told him no and to leave. Less than 48 hours later she goes outside to find 2 of her tires slashed. This upset and angered her. We knew we did it but nothing could be done. No witnesses, blah blah blah. It took a couple of days to get those tires replaced. Less than 2 days again, all 4 tires were slashed and her car was keyed real bad. Not only that her friend's(female) car had its tires slashed also! To make matters worse after she arrived back home she found her floor was slooshy with water. The water line to her new(used) fridge was cut and water was pouring everywhere. Her floor was ruined. the wood is made from cheap wood so it has a huge hump in it. Actually there are several humps. That's okay she can live without an ice maker. The next morning her fridge quit being cool at all. Upon examination it was discovered that the Freon lines were cut also. So far damages to her property total over $5000. It has been discovered that her leather jacket is missing too. A few days after that she and I go to court and she gets an order of protection against him. After arriving home from court we find that her window has been shot out.

The police are doing nothing but taking reports.

Now it has gone way beyond petty. Last night her house was set on fire. Only by Grace is she alive right now. Her smoke detector did not go off even though we had tested it less than a month before hand. At 2 am this morning she awoke and smelled smoke. The only reason she does not have more damage than she does is because the fire melted the water pipes and the water of her own house doused the fire. Charges against unknown party: arson and attempted murder, suspect is F.

K is now in the hospital. I took her there this morning with chest pains. She has had a heart attack in the past and has several other health problems. Luckily as of right now she did not have another heart attack. She is suffering from smoke inhalation.

This is an evil man. What is so wrong is he is getting away with it. We have found out that another woman had called the police 12 times against this same man with no help at all.

back

We are back from the doctor. It is mostly good news. He put Brook in a cast. He is satisfied with the placement of the bones right now. He said they were not perfect but being young they will fix themselves. We go back next week for more xrays. If the bones shift any at all, then we will have to do more. Brook is sporting a bright red cast now. The bad news is he said zero Tae Kwon Do for 3 months. That made someone very unhappy. Picture of cast at another time.

Time to relax and I will post later on the rest of the stuff going on.

We are leaving for the doctor now to see what he has to say about Brook's elbow.

Whatever will we do???????

Warning From Pakistan

This morning, from a cave somewhere in Pakistan,
Taliban Minister of Migration, Mohammed Omar, warned
the United States that if military action against Iraq
continues, Taliban authorities will cut off America's
supply of convenience store managers.  And if this
action does not yield sufficient results, cab drivers
will be next, followed by Dell customer service reps.

Brook

About Brook's trampoline accident... she was not jumping on the darn thing when she hurt herself. She had been sitting on it and was getting off. Instead of flipping over on her belly and sliding off she came off front facing. She slipped on the wet grass and somehow 1 hand got caught and down she went and landed on her elbow then she landed on her back with her arm underneath her.

update

I spoke with the surgeon this morning. He was looking at her x-rays as we spoke ( the miracles of digital and computers!) He said that her elbow was much to swollen and that he wanted to see her on Wednesday. He did not say that she would have surgery, so it is possible that she will just have to be in a cast. I will find out more at that time. In the meantime the poor thing is in a lot of pain. She is hurting more with this than she did when she broke both wrists LAST summer. I am not sure if I told you, she broke her elbow in 3 or 4 places. 3 places for sure with a 4th as as a possibility.  She is a real trouper. She has already asked if she will be able to continue her Tae Kwon Do! Her pain meds are knocking her out. They gave her tylenol with codeine. I am so glad that I did not have to insist on a stronger pain medicine. Sometimes they are reluctant to give a child strong enough medicine for pain. Oh yes, it is her left elbow and she is right handed.

One thing that is sad is that we just bought a new pool! She does not know it yet. We will wait and put it up after the cast comes off. No sense in torturing her!

Brook

I just got home from the emergency room with Brook. She slipped and fell off a trampoline yesterday evening while over at a friend's house. She will be having surgery some time in the next 2 days. She broke her elbow in several places. Another summer in a cast for her. I will post more later. I need sleep. I have been up for over 24 hours and have to get going again in about 3 hours.
