cuts, walking and stuff

"A mistake only becomes a failure when you repeat it."

How is everyone today? Pat is doing good with his finger. It looked horrible. It was a jagged cut about 2 inches long. Brook's ear is better. And I am not thirsty anymore.

I have been walking 3-4 times a week lately. My new habit will be walking 5 times a week even if I have to walk alone. We have been going 2.2 miles on the road and my driveway added to it makes 2 and a half miles for me. We are working on cutting our time down for our walk. I suspect that I will have to increase my time on the days we do not walk together.  Our time is slow. We are barely walking ove 2.5 miles an hour. I would like to get our time up to 3.5 MPH. At least I am walking!

Next month I start a new class. We will be studying advance techniques in Bo Staff. I will set up a video so yall can see how well(or poorly) I am doing. Brook will not be taking the next class with me. She has a lot on her plate right now with school and the black belt test.

Saturday Pat and I will be leaving town for a few days. I will not have access to Internet(no laptop). We will be taking a much needed break from everything. Going to ride the bike to Helen and wherever else our heart desires.

Okay time to get busy. I need to cook and clean like all good domestic goddesses do.

pain, ouchie, thirsty

Today has not been the best of days. This morning Pat and I were on our way out the door to get my alternator fixed and Brook's school called. She had a bad ear ache. So off we go to get her. I call the doctor's off ice and it would be afternoon before we can get in. Okay that was settled. After having my alternator tested again and it said it was good(first test said it was bad) we decided to eat breakfast. It was real good except for the service. I could NOT get a refill. Finally we are getting up to leave and she brings me one. Well duh! Too late now.

Brook sees the doctor and she just has an ear infection. She is being treated with ear drops.

Pat goes to work and calls me after he had only been there 30 minutes. He is on his way to the hospital. He had cut his finger pretty bad. They put 7 stitches in and sent him back to work. Work sent him home.

He is here and now I am gone. LOL See yall later.

babies, Precious

We went and picked up our horses today.

Precious did not mate. Yesterday she was given a date rape drug ( not really but that is what I felt like). She was given a sedative to calm her down and allow him to mount. She kept looking at me and I cried. When she still ran out from under him I said no more. She was not just hurt physically, she was hurt mentally after what happened last time. Next year we will try to artificially inseminate her. My baby is home where she belongs. I will have the vet check Crystal this week to see if she is pregnant. If not we will try again next spring with her also.

Brook's training intensifies now. Black belt testing is a lot harder than any of the other tests. She has to punch out 3 candles  without touching the flames. Sounds easy huh? It is not! I have tried it. She has to break 50 boards and a cinder block. She does get to wrap her hands up for the breaking.

On top of these tests she is testing for the gifted program at school. AND she is now in an after school class for computers and stuff. 2 hours a day of practice for Tae Kwon Do, 1  hour class of TAe 4 times a week, 1 hour computer class twice a week and 1 hour of homework 3 times a week,  and 30 minutes of reading daily.... She does have time to eat in there somewhere.

Okay Pat is waiting for me. We are going to watch The Sting.

update

Brook will be staying with me to take her test!!!!!

an entry

laundry done , entry done.

Brook might not be taking her black belt because her mother and step father plan on taking her to dallas the first week of October when her testing starts. All because it is his mother's birthday and she might not have many more. Brook has trained 3 years for this. It is unfair to make her wait until next year to take a test with people that she has not even trained with. How would you feel going to class and seeing the ones that are taking the test training, knowing that you should be one of them. How much incentative do you think she will have to keep going? All this for a birthday for a woman that Brook cannot even talk to because Brook does not speak Spanish and she does not speak English? I am pissed.

Black belt

Tonight we had the black belt testing meeting after class. The intense training has now begun. There are 4 pretests to do. The third one will be the hardest. How many 10 year olds do you know that can go 12 hours WITHOUT talking? That is right, 12 hours of no talking just reading, drinking, eating and bathroom. They will spend 12 hours in dead silence at Barnes and Nobel. I will not be here for that one. That is the weekend I will be in Virginia.

Yep. The weekend of  September 22nd  I will be attending my nephew's wedding in Virginia Beach. The reception will be on the Naval base. Anybody in that area?

I need some cooler temperatures!

Labor day weekend Pat and I are booked in a motel in Helen Georgia. Hopefully there will be some rekindling there.

Aren't these 2 cutie pies? They are orphan kitties. Their mama died before they opened their eyes. They are tiny! These 2 are at the barn where my mares are at right now.

That's all for now. Good night everyone.

darn it

Darn it. I missed yesterday. I did get a load of clothes done.  (never seems to end)

Yesterday was another hot day. I wonder when it will end. The trees are already losing their leaves so as of right now we will not have any fall color. The seasons are changing once again. I don't mean summer to fall, fall to winter sort of change. I am talking about change. Changes that are being contributed to global warming, holes in the ozone, stuff like that. I think it is just part of the natural cycle. I believe all these changes in the climate and the earth is supposed to happen. Hasn't it always been survival of the fittest? If you are rigid you will break and will not survive. Nature culs out the weak.

Sorry, I guess my mind started thinking.

I posted a picture of the stud on C's Life.

Im here

I know I missed yesterday writing here but I did not miss doing a load of laundry.

Yesterday Precious was brought out to meet the stud but she was still resistant. This morning was a different story! She stood there and twitched her tail over. The stud was then brought out to see if she was ready. She stood legs spread, tail flopped over while he sniffed around and rubbed his nose on her. He nuzzled her neck and the attempted to mount. Everything was going so well up to that point. Precious ran out from under him and wet herself. She was scared. Once more we attempted the breeding. She stood still again in the ready position and once again ran out from under him. This time she did not go as far and run as hard. Keep in mind Pat is holding Precious on a lead rope. The first time she dragged him about 20 -30 feet. The third time we attempted it and out from under him she went again. This time she only went about 5 feet and not so fast. I think she is teasing him now! She is scared but I think she will allow him soon. There will be another attempt tonight. We will keep on for as long as she is on heat.

We went and bought Brook's birthday present today. I cannot tell you what it is right now because little eyes are in the room right now. I can tell you this , it is pretty and big! LOL Ouch she just hit me!

Understand?

Let's see if I understand

how the world works lately..

If a man cuts his finger off
while slicing salami at work,

he blames the restaurant.

If you smoke three packs a day
for 40 years and die of lung cancer,

your family blames
the tobacco company.

If your neighbor crashes into
a tree  while driving home drunk,

he blames the bartender.

If your grandchildren
  are brats without manners,

you blame television.

If your friend is shot

by a deranged madman,

you blame the gun
manufacturer.

And if a crazed person breaks into
the cockpit and tries to kill  the pilot at 35,000 feet,
and the passengers kill him instead,

the mother of the crazed deceased
  blames the airline.

I must have lived too long

to understand the world anymore.

So, if I die while my old, wrinkled butt is parked in
front of this computer,

I want all of you
  to blame Bill Gates...okay?

stuff

Last night I went to check on the horses. Precious is doing better when she is brought to the stud now. He is getting "happy" to see her too! Last night Precious recieved a hormone shot to help her be receptive. If this works , this time next year I will be a proud grandma of 2 baby horses!

WOW we  are having a break in the heat. It is only 78 right now. For the last 2 weeks at this time of day it had already hit the 90's. Now if we can get some rain we may get some hay. I really do not want to pay $6 and up for a bale of grass!

Pat was happy with his dinner last night. I made homemade chicken pot pies. I know that seems like a winter meal but he really likes it. I always make too much stuffing for the pies so I make chicken soup with the leftovers. 2 meals out of 1 pot suits me just fine. When I make my pies I use whatever veggies I have in the freezer and fridge so my pies are not always the same. This time they had potatoes, carrots, corn, green beans and crowder peas in them. Who knows what next time will be.

The weapons class is coming along fine. I am really enjoying it. Enjoy the video of master Lee and 2 of his students

Here is the test to find whether your mission on Earth is finished: if you're alive, it isn't."
-Richard Bach

habits

It is weird how when you stop doing something, how hard it is to get going again. It seems that it is the things we enjoy that it happens to. Like cooking. I know people that love to cook yet they don not do it anymore. Something happened and they stopped and never seem to get going at it again. Here is another one, writing in a journal. When you put the pen down(or keyboard) it seems so hard to start back up again. The bad habits are real easy to get going again. Gambling, smoking,(excuse my language) whoring around, doing drugs, drinking, those bad habits are so easy to get going again.

Starting today I am going to work on making a good habit be in my life again. Actually I am going to do 2 good habits. The first is one is to make an entry everyday in one of my 2 journals. The second one is to do a load of laundry everyday until I am caught up and can no longer do a full load everyday. I will not wash a small load unless it is delicates. Uses too much water and electricity.

I will be back later today. Pat is now up and at em. I need to fix breakfast for him.

colonscopy

Pat and I were at the hospital a little before 6 am today. After checking in and paying the deductible (pay first nowadays), we went up to day surgery. Shortly afterwards they came for Pat to roll him back. After about an hour the doc came out and showed me what they found. He removed 3 polyps, 2 of which were a substantial size, and said that he has Diverticulosis. We will get the lab results in about a week. As for the other, well, he will have increased fiber in his diet among other things. This might be enough to scare him into losing weight and eating better. We had a bit of a problem with the sedative. He scared them. As soon as he was injected he went out. He was out cold. His oxygen level dropped and everything. I forgot to tell them that he is a lightweight as far as drugs are concerned. We had a difficult time waking him. He is sleeping now but he is okay. He has light snoring so I know he is breathing fine.

Fun day

Today HAS NOT been a fun day. Pat and I went out to breakfast today at the Golden Corral. It is to be his only meal today. The rest of the day has been him getting a gastric lavage. In other words I am washing his guts out. Tomorrow morning he is going in for a colonoscopy. He is not happy. He claims I am torturing him and enjoying it.

We are having a break from the heat. It is 99 with a heat index of 104.

Crystal is out of season now. Hopefully she is carrying a baby. Precious is becoming interested in the stud. Tomorrow she is getting a hormone shot. With any luck she will be....wanting the stud.(ok horny!)

Enjoy the pictures.

I have not melted

It is hot but I have not melted. I really would not mind melting off a few pounds right now. I hate Pat going to work every day right now. He is working in an uncooled shop on hot trucks. It has been so hot he is not taking the bike to work! Poor Brook has broke out in a heat rash. And I just feel fatter. I think fat swells in the heat. The chickens are running around looking like their poor wings are broke. They are holding them out to try to cool off.

Still no news with Precious. I am not going to rush things.

Brook and I started our weapons class last night. It is hard. We are expected to do 40 moves in less than a minute in a month's time, preferably we will be doing it in less than 30 seconds! I am old! And fat! I dont move that fast!. LOL

The washer has stopped, time to put them in the dryer.

Cats can sleep anywhere! The tiger stripped cat on the back of the couch belongs to my niece. He is a total laid back kitty. He was born feline leukemia positive to a stray cat that she took in. This cat is only 3 months old in this picture. He is going to be a very big boy.

The siamese looking kitten and the tiger stripped laying on the porch are fullblooded brothers. Their names are Smokey and Tiger.
The fluffy yellow and the fluffy tiger stripped cats are brothers from the same litter. Sweethearts, both of them. Big Yellow and Fluff.
Susie is mama.I cannot figure out why she is taking this uncomfortable place to sleep!
I love my kitties and they love me. Sometimes it feels like they are the only ones that love me.

Little things

"Little things seem nothing, but they give peace, like those meadow flowers which individually seem odorless but all together perfume the air."

-George Bernanos

halfway there

What a weekend. Pat and I went to check on the horses and Crystal let us know when we walked her by the stud that she was ready! He started sweet talking her and lordy I did not think Pat could hold her! Well we decided to take Precious over there and we got the opposite reaction. Precious almost pulled Pat's arms off trying to get back into the pasture away from the stud. This morning she was less anxious but she is NOT ready to breed. We will keep teasing her and the stud's owner will keep teasing her also. Hopefully soon she will be ready. If she will just relax more while the stud is talking to her then we will give her a shot to help bring her into heat. She is scared and I will not rush her. Crystal did mate yesterday. If she is pregnant then she is due July 13th 2008 give or take 10 days. I am excited!

That's my news!

ripple

Each choice we make causes a ripple effect in our lives. When things happen to us, it is the reaction we choose that can create the difference between the sorrows of our past and the joy in our future.~ unknown

This and that

The horses have settled in over at the stud'splace. They are not in a pasture with any other horses but the other horses can come up to the fence where they are. I go over there twice a day to check on them. I could never leave Precious anywhere again without seeing her every day.

School starts tomorrow. I cannot believe how early it is starting. Brook is not happy with who her teacher is, not because she has heard anything bad about her but because oon the supply list she lists needing another notebook in addition to the 2 she already needs. WOW. I have a feeling that there will be a lot of work! Her teacher is going to check and see if she can be tested to be in the gifted program. Once again her class will be in a trailor. Our area has grown so much that we have outgrown the school. I believe we have 10 trailors now. We are lucky at our school. The kids get regular PE, art, and computer classes. Music, unfortunately is not taught.

My weight loss class has ended. I have only lost 5 pounds but I feel so much better. Next month special weapons classes start. Brook is already signed up for it. Master Lee says I can sign up also. I am seriously considering it. It will be a class on using a bo staff. Now if I could be as good as this 8 YEAR OLD!!!

Has anybody tried those Air Wick micro air freshers? The one that gives a little puff every so often? I bought one and it does so much better than the scented oil plugins.

I need to get busy. I just spent the last couple hours reading journals!
