Here are some more pictures. The vet came out this morning and gave her shots and pills. He said that it was the worse beating from another horse he had seen in a long time. I have to give her 10 antibiotic pills twice a day and 1 pain pill twice a day. I also have to boil the place on her neck out with peroxide twice a day and hose her down for at least 10 minutes on each side to help reduce the swelling. She is so good. She stands there and lets me do what needs to be done. It may be a minimum of 2 months before I can even think of riding her again.
Nice way to spend your birthday crying all day because of your horse.
Your poor horse. She really did take an awful beating. I'm so sorry. I'm glad to hear that she's cooperating with you and letting you do what needs to be done to help her. Animals know who they can trust. I hope that she heals quickly.
ReplyDeleteWOW CS....i never knew horses were violent like that. Those pictures are bad, but I am glad she is gonna get better. She is my favorite of your horses too ever since you showed me the pics months ago. Funny thing is I was just talking about your horse...that one...the day before you posted the abuse. I was telling my workout bud that I wanted to visit a farm, and that you said COME ON DOWN lol. Then I thought about the pretty red horse of yours since that happens to be one of the prettiest horse colors i have seen beside all black. Keep me posted on her please!

ReplyDeleteI was wondering how this happened.... were the horses in too close of quarters? Usually if they are out in a pasture the weak one runs away. How did this occur... ? Also I am sure the horse must have been making painful noises.... what are the bruises on the belly from? It doesn't look like a hoof kick or biting? Are you sure another horse did this, just wondering.
