It has hit the fan

Forgive me in advance. This is a rant and a crying jag all at the same time.

It has hit the fan at Pat's work. He got his paycheck last night and found out that they cut his pay by 2/3. His take home pay for 1 week was less than the gas it took him to get there. They never notified him that he would be making less. I do not know how legal that is but I just cannot believe that it is! If it is I would rather live somewhere else. Why are they doing this?At this rate we will be homeless in about 2 months. At this time I do not know what is going to happen. First we are going to call attorney and see what they say. I will get a job but I know I will not make enough to pay our bills. Providing I can get a job. I have been out of the job market for a long time. No one will hire Pat being under restricted work orders from doctor. He will have to forfeit claim in order to get another job. I do know that if this is not a clerical mistake(which I doubt) He will not stay with this company. At this moment he is ready to commit murder. I know I am.

  2. I know that is unethical.  I would also think it's not legal.  At least without notifying Pat first.  Let us know what the attorney says.

  3. DO NOT do anything until you HAVE an attorney. Employers will FIRST try to bluff you to see if they can get you to crack by putting your welfare or the fear of your welfare in your mind....make you stress and worry.

A lawyer will take this case almost immediatly. I woudl cease all communication with the emploer except to keep them updated on what the Dr. says about returning to work. Let everything else go through the attorney!

I'll keep you guys in my thoughts and prayers.

  6. Be sure your attorney specializes or at least has a good track record with workmans comp cases. Ask about taking it on a contingency fee.

  9. A call to Human Resources, or whatever it is with his job, should be your first move. It could have been a clerical error. I worked in pay, in the military, and when we went computerized, we had some wierd things happen. DON'T MURDER ANYONE! At least, not yet. rich
