I am upset and angry. Pat saw the doctor today and he was given an okay to return to work on restricted duty. Why could he not stretch it out until Monday at least so that he could be paid for the last 2 weeks of missed work? His job called and left a message that if he did not clock in tomorrow he would be fired. He has an MRI tomorrow, during the time when he has to be at work. He has worked there for 18 years. He has gone in sick and worked in horrid conditions. He has done everything they have ever asked him to. He has worked double shifts and come in on his of days.

Let's see. He is not to pick up anything that weighs more than 20 pounds. His air gun weighs that much. He is not to bend or stoop, no prolonged standing or sitting. He is a diesel mechanic. How is he supposed to do anything? To keep from paying any worker's comp they will have him come in and do what?

We are seeing a lawyer in the morning.

I am upset and angry. I do know that he will get another job now, or rathere when the doctor allows him to do more. No one will hire him like this. Why does life have to kick you in the ass when it is finally getting better? Why can't things stay good for a little while for once ?

I have a real great week ahead of me. In morning drive 26 miles to town to see lawyer, then 26 miles back. They 26 miles to take him to work, then back home again. Then back to his work again and then to Cleveland which is about 25 -30 miles from his work. Then if I have to take him back to his work I will stay until he gets off. He is taking pain medicines and muscle relaxers and cannot drive. He has a CDL and even though they are prescribed drugs, which would get him out of ticket on normal license, on CDL it is not allowed at all. Think about it. It is bad enough when a car is being driven by someone on pain pills, but a big rig?????? Ok, I have raged for now. I feel a little better. Signing off going to Walmart for drug refills.

  1. This is disgusting Celeste. I am shocked.  I am glad that you are taking legal advice over this matter.  Doing that sort of work could make his condition worse. Sounds like a very uncaring firm he works for as well.  Hope the lawyer can help you and can this sorted out. In the meantime, try not to get too stressed however difficult - hugs

  2. What did his doctor say when you made the argument (just as you expressed it here)? Is his heart made of stone? I can't imagine the doc cannot be reasoned with...unless he is on your DH's company payroll. Good luck with the lawyer.

  3. My God he is really getting shafted. It seems so unfair. What an awful thing to do. Did you tell the doctor what you said in you journal...let me guess...the doc works for the company?
I, too, am glad you are seeing a lawyer. God, why do things have to be so difficult. Take care of yourself and hang in there.

  4. Bless your heart!!!!!!!!! I really do know how you feel, when my first husband got sick, it was a real kick in the butt. I was so frightened, about his health and also paying the bills. I don't know how we made it sometimes but we did. We never went without food or anything we just had to have. Please keep the faith, lean on the Lord in times like this. He will lead you to do what is the best thing for the situation. Please remember YOU ALL  are in my prayers. For Pat's health and also the job thing. It would make me mad too after 18 yrs. of work and then they do him like that. But in this day and age we are all just a number to them. We are not sure what is gona happen yet with the Co. my husband works for. This worries me too, but there is nothing I can do about it, but pray for the strenght to deal with what ever happens, because this will be the will of the Lord. hugs to you Denise

I hope that lawyer can help ya'll out.. because that really is unfair.. especially given the fact he is still in pain.. what do they think he's enjoying himself being home in pain?  Geez.. 6. Why am I not surprised? Let me see...could it be that Danny got his finger mashed off and had to have it reattached because he company he worked for refused to replace a faulty brake machine...and then they refused to pay workmen's comp., refused to pay any hospital bills, refused to give me his last weeks check???We had to get a lawyer and sue their ass to get anything paid for. And that is all we sued for, his medicine, the hospital and dr. bills, his weeks paycheck, and workman's comp while he was out. Our lawyer did some investigating and found out the owner of the company had been brought up on criminal charges before for beating his employees!!!If I had it to do over again , we would sue the crap out of them.........
That is why I think you ought to see a lawyer, the sooner the better....all most companies care about now is the almighty dollar.
I will pray for ya'll Celeste....please take care of yourself, I worry about you and all the stress you are going through.

  13. How can the company he works for do that ?  It is ridiculous as he is obviously not fit for work.  I hope you both get it sorted out.  I don`t blame you for being angry, you have every right to be. Best Wishes to Pat.       Sandra  xxx

  14. I hope a lawyer can get just compensation for you.  It is so unfair what is happening to your family.
