disappointment

Why? I have eaten less than 1500 calories every day this week, exercised every day, started an intense exercise program(self defence class) and I still gained 2 pounds! Don't tell me it is muscle because I am not stupid. My fat did not turn in one week. Starting to feel like I am doomed to be fat unless I quit eating altogether.

  1. Perhaps you just need another week.  Sometimes it comes in spurts.  Hang in there!  And even if you don't lose weight, you know you'll be healthier and feel better.  ;o)  -  Barbara

  2. Celeste, quit weighing your self! Take a month  off getting near those scales. You are going to hit plateus and then suddenly results will start showing. Your doing all the right things, except for torturing your self! Kater

  3. Well, if your body is like mine, it could be water retention.  Just keep it up, don't allow yourself to weigh too much, and you'll do it!
    I'd be disappointed, too!

  4. Celeste I just knew what you were going to say ~ don't weight yourself for at least 4 weeks ~  if you leave it that long and keep up with the exercise and calorie count you will lose weight ~ I just know you will ~ Ally

  7. How many times did you work out? Was it every day or just once or twice this week? You work so hard on the farm as it is....hm. Please be patient. If you are eating 1500 calories and weigh over 150, you will lose if you stick with it. Are you sure you are counting everything? Sometimes people forget things like soda, or milk, or underestimate portions. Don't give up - you can do it!

  8. Bummer. But if you keep on with what you are doing and the weight WILL come off. Truly. Hang in and weigh yourself only when can't  stand the suspence!. Margo

  9. Don't sweat it too badly.  Sometimes when you've really cut back on calories and are burning more, your metabolism switches into starvation mode and holds onto everything you eat.  This will adjust itself.  You're doing great.

I know the disappointment, I've been there.  That being said, hang in there! Give it another week and then if you see no result in the right direction you will know you are doomed.  Nah, just kidding.  The other comment about your metabolism changing to compensate is right on the money.  Aother week of this and I promise you should see results.

  13. I don't know why this happens. My weight goes up and down daily. At least you are trying. I can't even seem to get on the weight wagon again. Just hang in there and if you keep up what you are doing it will come off. I think I am going to get rid of my scale.

  14. First things first, missy!  Fat does not "turn into muscle".  Second, the human body holds TEN pounds of feces.  Yes, that's right, you walk around with ten pounds of shit in you.  We all do.  So, two bloody pounds mean NOTHING at this point.
    You will lose.
    You will tighten up.
    You will gain muscle.
    You will be fabulous!
    Hell, you're fabulous already!
