models

I watched part of the Today Show interview that Al Roker had with Janice Dickinson. The more I listened the madder I got. This has been super model has her own modeling agency and reality show. When asked about models for plus size she says they have there place but not in my agency. She also made the comment that she advises her models to go organic and healthy living. She also said something about that models can weigh what they want as long as they are healthy. She made it clear that you had to be thin to be in her agency. She hated the Dove campaign where they used models that looked like real people. This is the kind of person that promotes thin is equal to healthy. This is the kind of person that helps to destroy a child's self image. It creates an atmosphere where bulmia and anorixa, enemas, and other UNHEATHY things take place. I am looking at this pitiful person with her collagen injected lips and botox face and trying to see healthy. She also had a comment about instead of setting standards in the industry why not just send food to those poor countries. I feel sorry for her daughter.

  1. janis dickenson is really a woman with alot of problems.  she still thinks she is it and she really never was to begin with.  dont let her upset you.  models do not know what they are talking about.  thats why they need their bodies to make them money and not their brains.

  2. I do not know the show you talk of Celeste with living in the UK but these thin models I do agree with you have such an influence over our young girls today.A freind of mines daughter age  17  ended up being realy ill wanting to look so thin. She was takeng water tablets which she bought over the counter at the local pharmacy no questions asked at all, and almost lost her life. Then when she was back to her normal self, which took months, she got into lots of bank loans unknown to her mum for cosmetic surgery. It is a nightmare. They want to ban all these shows and advetisements ect. I do not agree with this thin thing at all.A very good entry.Take care God Bless.

  6. Sounds to me like someone (J. Dickinson) is trying to convince the world of something she herself doesn't in all reality believe in....I don't know her...and from your review of her...I don't believe I want toooooo LOL....she does send the wrong message to our young folks....Hugs from KY...Ora

  7. I just got an email yesterday with pictures of young women dressed and made up like models but they were so bony it was unreal. Their faces and hair looked pretty but their bodies looked horrible. Paula

  10. JD is a horrible sub-human who doesn't even deserve to be seen anywhere outside of a rehab clinic.  Can you tell that I hate her too??  (growl, grumble.grumble)

  11. I guess she would think I am VERY UNHEALTHY LOL I am glad all us normal folks don't fall for all of this GARBAGE. Young girls may, if their moms and teachers don't tell them how it really is.

  12. I didnt watch the show, I think Dickinson is a hideous creature. Anymore plastic surgery and she may shatter. How come we havent heard from her in years then all of a sudden her scary mug is all over the media?

I think the Dove campaign is awesome, a REAL man prefers a REAL woman. Each one of my guy friends has said they would rather have a woman with curves and plumpness than some stick chic.

  14. First: Ms. Dickinson is not and has never been a "super model".  That distinction started in the late eighties, long after her career was over.  I can't stand her.  I think she is sad but, not for the reasons you stated.   Yes, she is pitiful.
Second: Although I personally love the Dove Campaign for Real Beauty, the truth is, clothing looks better on walking hangars.  That's what models are supposed to be, not REAL women but, WALKING HANGARS.  This is a business.  A business to sell clothing.  You want to present your product in the best way possible.  Therefore, you put your clothing where it looks best.  I have modeled when I lived in Philadelphia and Miss Patti and I had a clothing company so, I do have an insight on this business.
Yes, some of them go too far and become dangerously thin so, it's admirable that Ms. Dickinson wants her models to be thin but healthy.
Third: It's her company, she can put them in chicken suits if she wants.  It's up to her, no matter if we like it or not.
Fourth: Children get far more damage from their peers on the playground than any picture of a thin model.  You have to be kidding me if you think Cosmo can do anything worse to an overweight child than the torture they go through in school.  Study after study shows that being overweight leads to many health problems that only get worse when the child gets older.
Fifth: I am now off my soapbox!  LOL!
