Saturday

Saturday was a good day. Pat and I decided to take a ride on the bike and ended not going very far from home. Now I know that that part does not sound good but it was.

For the past week or so I have been seeing tepees erected all over town. It was advertising something , I was not sure what because the writing was to small for me to read. Saturday we found out what it was all about.

This year the 26th Annual Southeastern Primitive Rendezvous was/is being held right here in my little town of Lafayette, Georgia. It is sponsored by the NMRLA, the National Muzzle Loading Rifle Association. This is where Pat and I ended up at. this was the first time for either one of us to go see something like this. I pretty much knew what to expect but Pat did not. It amazed me as to how much time effort and money people put into these things. I was talking to one man and he was telling me how he would be able to always live like this and how he would be entirely self sufficient. He told me how he bought a muzzle loader that morning for $700 cash. Shortly before that he had mentioned that his wife was a graphic designer. Somehow I doubt that this man would be able to do it. He was soft, his tepee was store bought and so were his skins. There were many of people there that could do it, I am sure. You could tell the ones that were really into the lifestyle and the ones that were just....well....wanna bes. The only Indian that I ran into was a bowmaker. He was a really, really good looking man even with the bones in his ears and nose. I wanted to take his picture but he said $5 and he was serious! Forget that! There were many flags and tents and different areas representing different periods of time. No way to visit them all.

Enjoy the pictures

One young couple just starting out

This man is 70 something. He was making the fox hat on his head as we approached him.

Some of the tents set up.

  The tepee

 Some of the many flags.
