angry

I am angry. I don't know what is going to happen with Fred. The chemo drug he has been put on will cost him $3200 a day! That is almost $100,000 a month! Here is a man that has worked his entire life making sure that his family is provided for. He worked so that his wife would not have to suffer a great financial lose when he dies and now they are telling him that because he is not rich and he is not poor that he can't  get the drug he needs without losing everything he has. The famous federal drug plan has let yet another senior citizen down.

  2. Tell him to get in touch with the drug company and explain that he can't afford that price. We have a friend that the drug co furnishes his high priced cancer drugs to him. His doctor may can help him out with getting it set up. Helen

  3. It's sickening how drug companies make drugs that people need to live on so unaffordable! I understand your anger. I also agree with the first comment. A friend of mine needed a drug that was not covered by his insurance company in order to stay in remission and out of the hospital. His doctor called and talked to the insurance company and ended up having them cover his medication! So, yes please pass on the information from the first comment to Fred and his wife, it may help.

  4. I think that everone should write our congress men about these kind of things. We pay for and support unwed mothers with tax money. We give welfare to people who wont work because they dont wont to not because they cant. Its sad that our senior citizens sometimes have to decide if they get their meds this month or eat.

  5. Celeste, You may think you are feeling anger right now. It will evolve into feelings of impotent rage as this corporate cuddling administration continues to make illness and dying as hellish as possible. Find a spokesperson for your friend to go trough the jumble of trying to obtain help. A medical social worker. The Doctor. A researcher-on-staff at his hospital. He will not be able to do this alone. There is some assistance available, but only the stubborn and hardy are up to finding it. Daily prayers for all those stuck in this tragic, tragic situation.

  6. I can understand you being angry.  Talk to Fred's doctor maybe he knows of someway to get them cheaper or maybe you can get it from some cancer society place.  I am so sorry.

  9. Once again, another disappointment for someone who, right now, needs good healthcare more than anything.  This angers and frustrates me as well.  Prayers for Fred and his family, that some good will come.

  11. There is a possiblity of applying directily to the drug manufacturar for reduced price or free meds.   Personally, I think I'd tell my doctors to back up and give me the second or even third best treatment.  For myself.  Of course I'd want the best ones for my loved ones.  -  Barbara

  12. Oh no...prayers and hugs to them, hon.  Good suggestion on approaching the meds companies themselves. ;)  C.  http://journals.aol.com/gdireneoe/thedailies

  13. Has he applied for Medicaid at the hospital? Asked for experimental drugs? Checked for a state program? I sure hope they find an alternative and he can get treated. How cruel. If he lived in another country, you could move that decimal point. We pay SO much more here!

  14. Please tell Fred to ask his doctor to put him i a drug program of some kind.....Danny was going to have to start intraveineous drips for his arthritis and it was going to cost us around 2000.00 or more  week...until he got placed in with a drug co. program...which would pay for all of it! ( He died before he had to get started on them anyway)
Oh that medicare drug plan is a big pile of poop.

    love ya,
