Pat and I set out to Fall Creek Falls this morning and ended up turning around before going 20 miles. Rain decided to ruin our trip up there. Not wanting to go home, we headed south with no particular place to go. We hopped on Highway 41 in Ringgold and ended up in Rome. Did not see anything that really hit my fancy on our way there. Lots of carpet mills and other stinky places. On our way home we decided to take Highway 27 which runs all the way to our town. Finally we started seeing some interesting sights. At least interesting to someone that likes paper mills vs carpet mills. Ha! I don't like either one! At one place there was a concrete tower that was so tall that it resembled a skyscraper. They even had to have the flashing lights on top so aircraft can see it. Ugly. After getting past that we hit pretty country. Horse farms, cattle and 1 sheep farm were on this route. At one point we realized we were not on Highway 27 anymore but Highway 20. This did not concern me to much as I figured he knew where he was going. He tends to take off to places I don't know but he does. When we passed the Alabama state line I was getting a little bit worried. Then I smelled water. I smelled a lake. I thought, yep he knows where we are going. He is taking me to a lake that he knows about. LOL NOT! We pull over and he asks me if I know where we are. I tell him no that I have never been there that I know of. He looks at me and says, I'm lost. I think I forgot to turn off. I laughed. How often can you get a man to admit WITHOUT prompting that he is lost? Rarely! We rode across the lake a bit and pulled into a place where boats are unloaded and saw these 2 boys net fishing. They had this big fish in their net. I said to Pat Hey look at the size of that fish! This boy was so proud! He started to get the fish out of the net to hold it up and dropped it. He dove in the water after it but missed it. I felt bad about that. So anyway we turned back there and headed back the way we came and turned on a road that went north, knowing that going north we would eventually end up somewhere where we knew where we were! On that road I saw a chimney standing tall in the middle of a field. Green grass growing around it with daffodils blooming in the fireplace area. I wonder what the story is there? Was there a fire that destroyed the house? Did a tornado destroy it? Was it torn down and built elsewhere?
LOL 186 miles of riding today. My feet hurt. Why does my feet hurt? I was sitting! Pat is tired. He plans on getting the horses out to ride later on. BUT I doubt it! LOL He is snoring on the couch now. I think I will put my feet up a bit now. See yall later.
The vibration from the engine would make my feet hurt. Tarsal tunnel thing. Glad you had a nice ride.

ReplyDeleteI love to just go out riding...no particular place to go in mind, just out and about looking mindlessly around at the scenery. But we don't get to do that all that much...gas prices and all. Lol. Glad to hear you enjoyed your day!
ReplyDeleteSounds like a great day out ~ pity about the rain ~ liked the fish tale shame he could catch it when it fell into the water ~ glad you eventually found your way home ~ Ally
ReplyDeleteSounds like a great adventure anyway... even if the highlights were a fish and a chimney!
