with the good came some bad.

Today was a good day with a real bad part in it. Pat and I took Brook and went to the flea market. We went there to get us some new leather jackets. Actually he got a new one, and I got my first! I had been wearing my daughter's jacket when we rode the motorcycle. We paid $300 for the pair. Ouch! Yea we could have gotten some cheaper ones, but we liked these and the cheaper ones are cheaper made also. On our way home we decide to stop and pick up some food to eat rather than me cook today since it was getting a bit late. We had just decided where we were going to eat when an idiot decided that he could cross the road before we got there. It seems like it lasted forever. I see this truck turning thru the intersection making a left hand turn in front of us and I know that no matter what we were going to be in an accident. I am watching the truck and Pat is trying to avoid it. If the other driver had been paying any attention at all the accident never would have happened. I see him hit us( I am turned in my seat some watching him) , Pat did not realize that we had actually been hit. He almost moved the truck but for once listened to me and did not move it at all after coming to a stop. The other driver backed up and moved his truck off to the side. Our law here says do not move vehicle until police tell you to. I checked with Brook right away and she says she is fine. I get out and look at the truck and I know we are in trouble. I look at the guy and I said do you have insurance and he said no. Somehow I already knew that. I had just said that to Pat a minute before when I saw his truck and the tags on the truck. So anyway the police get there ( I had called 911 on the cell phone) and ask for everything and next thing I know they are putting handcuffs on the guy. He is driving on a suspended license and no insurance. We are okay. A bit sore and shook up but nothing some aspirin and rest won't fix. The truck on the other hand is hurt. Due to Pat's skill in  driving he was able to avoid a head on collision and we were hit behind the door on the bed at the gas tank. The truck is only 3 years old so I am not sure how they will fix it. Repair the damage or replace the bed. I hope replace the bed! Our insurance has to pay for it since he did not have any. Lucky for us we are not at fault so it will not raise our rates. I don't know everything. The truck may or may not be his. If it is not then the legal owner is liable for the damages.

After that was all over we went to Kentucky Fried Chicken and got a bucket and went home. No washing dishes, no cooking. Good part of day. New jackets , good part of day. We are alive, very good part of the day.

  6. Praise God in all His glory that you,nor Pat , nor Brook were hurt.....You may want to consider getting a lawyer though to handle the insurance...it can get ugly. But still, Thank You Jesus, for bringing my friends home unhurt.

  12. Better the truck hurt than any of you. I wonder if that guy will be out on the roads again to do this all over again in a matter of weeks? I also wonder how many times he has already been picked up for driving illegally.

  18. It is not unusual for many people to drive uninsured or with suspended licenses.  That makes my blood boil!  Glad you are all okay but sorry about the truck.
