an update

I am feeling much better today. Weak but at least I do not feel sick! I did not do much yesterday, a little bit of laundry and some dishes. The machines did most of the work! LOL. I ate a little bit. O yea and I lost 5 pounds in 2 days. I know that won't stay away , but it sure was nice to look at the scales and it say 178 instead of 183! LOL

Yesterday evening Pat took me and Brook to Tae Kwon Do. We were not doing the exercise class this week because of getting the students pretested for their belt tests. So there was no worry about me overdoing anything. On our way home from there Pat thought he saw a baby dear laying on the side of the road. He asked me if I saw that but I did not so he backed up and said no that he must have been wrong. Then he decided that he did not back up far enough. After backing up about 20 more feet, we both saw it. No, not a baby deer but a puppy!. We thought that maybe it was hung up on the fence because it had a collar on and it was in line with the bottom wire on the fence. I got out to free the poor thing and it moved away so I knew it was not hung up. I approached it and snapped my fingers at it and said come here and he did. His tail was tucked in and he was shivering hard. I picked him up and he immediately snuggled in. I walked over to the truck and told Pat that I was getting in and taking him home. He did not say anything so off we went. We weren't but a mile from home at that time. This little dog was dumped in a place where there were no houses for 1/4 mile in either direction. He nestled his little head up in my neck and whimpered the whole way home. He had a collar on, a flea collar. When we got him in the house and I got a better look at him I knew he was not a puppy, not real old either I don't think. He looks like a miniature doberman. He was so happy running around back and forth between Brook and Pat. His tail going 100 miles an hour. I put down some food for him and finished fixing our dinner. He would go get a bite and take it over to Pat's feet and eat it. After dinner He met Susie. Oops! 1 razor claw to the nose and he was gone! He went under Pat's seat so fast! I took him outside and told him to potty and he went right to his business. Some one had gone to the trouble of housebreaking this dog, placed a flea collar on him and dumping him? Oh yea, one more thing he has been neutered! I mentioned bed and he understood me I supposed because he went in the kitchen and laid down in the corner! I took him out one more time to potty and then back in. I placed an old sweatshirt where he was ly before and told him to go to bed and he went.

This morning Pat was delighted with him and picked him up and put him on the bed. Poor thing peed. I told Pat that he had asked to go out not play! O well they needed washing anyway.

Right now I have 2 computer buddies, Sebastian and the dog with no name yet.

I think it has become official, I have a zoo!

  1. Sounds like Pat has a dog!  It's amazing how people can spend so much money on a dog, then dump them.  At the shelter where we got Sadie, there was a purebred Mini-pin who had had his voicebox removed so he couldn't bark.  And there he was at a shelter.  Hmmmmm.

  3. I cannot exactly see from the pictures you posted, but I believe you are right.  He looks like a minature pincher.  From all you have said, he probably was not dumped, but ran off.  I have 2 MinPins and they are real live wires.  It is the nature of these little dogs to be very hyper.  If they can get out of the door or fence, they are gone like a shot.  You may watch "lost and found" in your paper to see if anyone has posted one missing.

  4. Just a few additional notes about MinPins in case you do keep him.  MinPins are not actually minature dobemans.  They are classified as a "manufactured" breed. I guess they are called miniture pinchers because they do look like dobermans. They are one of the few dogs who actually smile.  They bare their teeth and really smile.  They are a "one person" dog, meaning they are usually close to only one person.  They also chew and drag their bedding around.  This is really listed as one of their personality traits.   I have to fasten their blankets onto brackets in their kennel to keep them from dragging them outside.  And, they do bark a lot.  But they are great fun and have a lot of personality and love toys.

  9. Always picking up strays and giving them a comfy home, obvious by the look on Sebastian's face! I think I'll have Chunkie leave me by the side of the road in your neighborhood.

  12. What a sweet little thing! Maybe he got loose rather than was dumped? Let us know what his name is - I didn't read the other comments, but there is a breed called MinPin, which is Miniature Pinchers. They look like dobies, but yours looks a little big for that.

  13. I am very glad to hear that you are feeling better and did not overdo yourself. Isn't it amazing how uncaring people can be when it comes to their animals? Your home may be a zoo, but alteast it's a place that's filled with love, the dog knows that!
