Trauma

We had a horrible mishap today in the bird cage.  I went to the cage to feed them and was looking at each bird and I noticed one was missing. Then I looked again and there it was. One of the baby grays was hanging in the air by one of the toys. her eyes were staring at me. OMG I panicked. I reached in the cage while hollering at Pat to remove the cat from the house and put my hand under and around the baby. I held on to her while I unscrewed the toy from the cage. Meanwhile all the birds are now panicking themselves and flying around in the cage. I get the toy loose and her poor head was caught in it. It was a spiral metal piece with beads and chimes on it. I could not tell you how her head got there but it was there. She is hurt. I don't know how long she was hanging there. She may not survive the trauma. She is drinking water. In the pictures you can see the damage to her neck. I hope she will be okay.

  2. Poor little one! No matter how careful we are... they always seem to manage to find a way to get into trouble. Hope the baby recovers completely.

  5. Poor baby!!  I hope she'll be okay.  If she's drinking, that's a really good sign.  Hopefully the physical damage isn't too bad, and she'll get through the stress.
