horses

We are going to pick up a horse today and look at another one. Not sure about the second horse. There is a guy here that is giving away his horse and plans on putting the other one down tomorrow if we don't take it too. He was going to just open the gate and turn them loose and let them go wild. He claims he cannot feed them anymore. We are going to have a tough time with hay ourselves but to just turn them loose.... The first horse is a registered arabian, chestnut with black mane. The second one I did not get a discription of except to hear that it has been foundered. He says it happens every spring. Makes me wonder if he is confusing foundering with colic. Pat is going to check out her feet and see how she is walking and stuff. She is supposed to be kid safe. If she seems ok we will take her. I know we are worried about hay but......

  2. Oh I would probably take her.  Just to turn them lose is cruel.  I know someone who did that and the horse couldn't find food.

  3. Knowing what a big heart you have I wouldn't be surprised if you take them both :o) ~ Isn't it against the law to turn horses loose ? ~ if it isn't it should be ~ Hope everything is OK with you and yours ~ Ally x

  4. Let me know how the horses turned out. Freddie our new donkey was going to be euthanized or taken to a sale because his owner couldnt care for him any longer. I am not sure if were going to keep him but at least Ill make sure goes to a good home, he is a big sweetie.

You two have such big hearts.  You both give me hope in civilization and our future.  I know it sounds overly dramatic, but I do mean that I get a lot of inspiration from your "can do" attitudes and your responses to whatever crisis is at hand.  What you are going to do for these two horses is fantastic.  You may not keep them long, but while they are in your care, I know they will be treated right.  When they leave your care I know they will go to good, deserving homes.  You guys are my heros tonight.  Thanks!

  7. Oh, I see now where you found the horse.  How sad.  Pete constantly worries over ours.  Getting really tough to take care of them with him out of work so long.  Too bad this man didn't make the choice to get rid of his sooner.  May could have gotten some money for them when they were in better shape.  I pray we have the wisdom to know when and if we need to decrease our number.  Currently four.  -  Barbara
