update on horses.

OMG OMG OMG. I cannot believe that this poor horse is still alive. I have put a call in to a rescue organization.  I can never take care of this horse. Actually it is a pony. There is NO excuse for the neglect this poor pony has gone through. We cannot take her except to put her out of her misery.  She cannot walk. She is skin and bones. Her hooves are horribly deformed. This pony has been foundered numerous times. She has a shoe that has grown up in her hoof! There is about 4-6 inches of hoof BELOW IT. I cried. It would take thousands of dollars that I do not have just to MAYBE get this horse on her feet. She is a sweetheart but you can tell she is in horrible pain.  I am crying again trying to tell you. I am so torn. I am afraid to leave her there because I know her life will be over tomorrow but if I bring her here it could just be more pain that she cannot take anymore. I don't have the money to help her in any way.  It makes me sick.

I am heartbroken to hear that this gentle creature has been treated in this manner.  You can't save them all.  I know that is little comfort, but it is true for folks like you and me who are not rich.  I pray that the rescue organization responds quickly enough to at least evaluate this pony.  Hopefully they may even take on this case.  If not, perhaps this poor soul needs to get some rest.  I will shed a tear, too.

  3. Clueless people shouldn't be allowed to have animals or children <sigh>. I hope you get an organization to take her, because you are right... it will take money and special care if she is to have a chance... or at least someone kind when they put her out of her misery... Stories like this make me sick, but I agree with boatman, you have to accept that you, as an individual, can't save them all.

  4. Some people have no feelings; otherwise, they wouldn't neglect their animals in such a manner.

  6. Poor, poor pony.  I hope the rescue organization can take her.  I hope the Arabian works out to be a good horse for you.  It is great that you were willing to take both of them.  How in the world could anyone let a horse get in such bad shape?

  7. OOOOOO THIS MAKES ME SO VERY ANGRY!  I just feel like crying. Poor thing is suffering.  It brings out the KY girl in me and I want to kick somebody's lazy butt.  If he didn't want to or know how to take care of it, he shouldn't have gotten it.  TURN IT LOOSE??? This isn't some old Western movie!!!  He has a screw loose and he should be prosecuted.  Not only that, time to call the news media and the papers and the law out on this nut.  I understand you all don't have the hay but if you contact the radio stations and the news media, people will deliver and come out, and I just betcha some vet will want to help.  There are so many good people left in the world.  You all are so sweet. God Bless you for your big gracious hearts.

  8. just this morning on the news was stories of two farms with horses that are just skin and bones...and of course they have been taken to vet etc...whatever the rescue folks do with them...it is just sickening...and all it takes is a phone call to have them taken and cared for...no excuse for the farm owner to do this...even if some of the horses were borders and not his or her own....sickening is what it is...God Bless Celeste...Hugs...Ora

  9. OMG How could someone even let a horse get into such a state to begin with?? That's abuse and they should be reported!
How sad for you to have to witness this and be so helpless. I hope that horse doesn't suffer much longer.

  10. I am not sure where you have seen her or to whom she belongs.  All I know to say is that you try and see if someone with the funds will take her, otherwise you have her put down.  It's just a sad, sad circumstance.  And not of your creating.  -  Barbara

  11. How heartbreaking!  You did the right thing, calling rescue.  They will do what they can for that poor thing.  Hopefully they will be able to save him.

  12. With hay reaching eight dollars a bale around here there are reports of horses just being turned loose in the hills. :-(
