update

I spoke with the surgeon this morning. He was looking at her x-rays as we spoke ( the miracles of digital and computers!) He said that her elbow was much to swollen and that he wanted to see her on Wednesday. He did not say that she would have surgery, so it is possible that she will just have to be in a cast. I will find out more at that time. In the meantime the poor thing is in a lot of pain. She is hurting more with this than she did when she broke both wrists LAST summer. I am not sure if I told you, she broke her elbow in 3 or 4 places. 3 places for sure with a 4th as as a possibility.  She is a real trouper. She has already asked if she will be able to continue her Tae Kwon Do! Her pain meds are knocking her out. They gave her tylenol with codeine. I am so glad that I did not have to insist on a stronger pain medicine. Sometimes they are reluctant to give a child strong enough medicine for pain. Oh yes, it is her left elbow and she is right handed.

One thing that is sad is that we just bought a new pool! She does not know it yet. We will wait and put it up after the cast comes off. No sense in torturing her!

  1. Ask about a waterproof cast, I had one once, but mine was just the wrist.

  6. when I was growing up we always went to the coast to visit relatives.  i had one cousin that always had something in a cast.  i think he was an adult before i ever saw him without one.

hope she gets to feeling better soon.

  7. That is really sweet that you are not going to put it up until she is able to use it. You are right, there is no sense in torturing her. Better not let her know how long you've had it when it does go up, lol.

  10. Maybe she should add judo lessons when she is healed - to learn to fall correctly. The beagles are doing a Feel Better and Heal Fast dance for Brook :)
