stuff

It was a beautiful day today. With any luck I will get my little garden in in a day or 2. I will be using pots for some things this year like for tomatoes and peppers, maybe that way I will get some!

I had a good long talk with my oldest sister today. It was good to talk to her.

pat and I went out to dinner last night, treat of the kids. It was good to get away from here even if only for a little while. Afterwards we went and played pool. Things were going well then, I don't know... it got a bit tense. Some days it don't pay to get out of bed.

Anyway it was beautiful today. I said that already LOL. I cleaned up the small garden spot and hopefully it will dry out some. There were lots of wiggle worms in it. That is good. I need to get out and rake up the pine needles and spread them under mu holly bushes to slow down the weeds there.

My goal this month is to burn the old barn, move the deck into place and put my pond in. It is a small 5 foot pond with a little waterfall. Good luck to me.

Anybody have eczema? I need something that works on it. It has popped up in a tender spot(think top) and the itching is driving me crazy! I have not had a flareup in several years.

Anybody save cans? I do. I need to sell some. It has gone up to 70 cents a pound locally and 85 cents a pound in Chattanooga. A sure sign that the economy is crappy. All this we may be nearing a recession or maybe we are in one is bull hockey. I say we are in one. More people losing their homes and filing bankruptcies than ever before.  More businesses are shutting down, more people out of work, more people seeking help and not finding it. Where will it end? When willit end? When our economy collapses completely? When we are in a full blown depression?

I have quit buying paper towels and paper napkins. I am using hand towels again like my mama used to. $2 for a roll of paper towels compared to $5 for 5 towels. The towels win. Yes, I have to wash them but in the long run it is far cheaper to use towels.
Ok I am out of here. I need to quit thinking again. Dang thinking gets me down sometimes.

  1. I agree with you. I think we are already in a recession but they don't want to say that because it will bring everyone more down than they are already. JMO.
Glad you had a good talk with your Sis....that's always nice. Good luck with your garden. I hope you get all of your stuff done this month. I want to see the pond when you are doing it. Take pics!

  3. Yes I save cans and have for years and I'm not too good to pick them up off the street when I see them. I give mine to my neighbor but my daughter and I use to save them for charity. Good luck with your pond and your garden. John's daughter put in a neat pond with a little fountain and it got water mossasins in it so they took it all out. Paula

  7. I think the foreclosures weren't caused by a recession, but by everyone in the world grabbing a mortgage above their means. Now, of course, the fallout is helping fuel a recession.

Anyhow, good luck with the pond.

  9. I'm glad you had a good day.  Hope you're able to get your garden started soon.  Yes, the economy is so depressing, it doesn't pay to think about it too much!  I hope you're having a good week.

  10. I never switched to paper stuff - it's too annoying to run out and have to run to the store. I use cloth placemats, napkins, towels, and I also have rags for cleaning up. I still have some old cloth diapers for rags, lol - I didn't like paper diapers, either!

I hope your garden is perfect this year - gorgeous and feeds you well too!

    xoxo
