just talking

Grumpy, gloomy day, that is what today is. It is damp and chilly and I just want to stay in bed. No can do. Staying in bed is not an option. I have to stay busy. I am making a dent in the piles and piles of paper junk I have accumulated over the years. Yes, junk. I tend to keep mail forever and magazines and newspaper and all that other stuff that I never look at again. This week I hauled out 3 bags of stuff. My shredder gave up the ghost! Now I have to burn the old bills and credit card offers and all that kind of stuff. I never send those things to the dump. My credit is worthless but no sense in letting anyone get half a chance at stealing me. I have enough trouble with me!

Be right back. The dryer buzzed.

Ok back.

Looks like I will be going to America's Best for my glasses WHEN I have $300.  Glue will not hold the broken piece together(too much stress there) so clear tape it is.  I did some checking around and prices are through the roof. Insurance no longer covers glasses so I am on my own. I am not able to get their 2 for 1 because of my prescription.   I am extreme nearsighted with astigmatism and bifocals. My eyes are old before my time. I cannot risk losing my eyesight. Losing that will also be losing most of my hearing. You have to have eyes to read lips. No I am not total deaf. I do have some hearing, about 40% in each ear but that is not enough to always know what is being said all the time. I miss a lot or misinterpret what has been said. I am used to it since I have been this way since birth but that does not mean I like it! I tell everyone, if you can hear good never ever complain about the noise. Try going through a day when you have 8 birds not 10 feet away from you and you cannot hear them sing except for a note here and there. I never heard a cricket or a bird or a locust, or a katydid until I was in 5th grade and got my first hearing aid. I don't have one now. That is another thing insurance won't cover. $1500 a pop is out of my budget by a long shot. Funny thing insurance is. It will cover pills to help ED but not birth control. It will pay for a nose job but not glasses or hearing aids. Glasses and hearing aids are "cosmetic". Like a nose job is not?? A nose job can be done to "correct" a deviated septum. They know how to word it so insurance pays.

Enough of that already.

Weight. I am done to 189 this morning. That still classifies me as obese on the BMI scale. Tomorrow I might be back up to 190 but for today I will take it, I am under 190!
Ok time for my strawberry smoothie. Y'all have a great day.

  1. I do the same thing with mail. I have a pile of mail to go through on my counter all the time. I hate that.
I had no idea you had trouble hearing. I hope you are able to get another hearing aid soon. But, I know they are expensive. Crazy about insurances, huh? I don't get it.
    Have a good weekend.

  2. Hi Celeste, I think is scandalous that glasses are so expensive. We need them to see not for fashion. They should be much cheaper in my opinion.  The weather has been lovely the last couple of days but its supposed to be very cold Saturday and even snow on Sunday...bah!

I share your frustration with insurance and I am bewildered at what they will pay for and what they won't.  I didn't know about your hearing problems, I can not imagine what it would be like to be deaf.  I am thankful that at least you still have partial hearing.  I hope the strawberry smoothie helps you with the grumpies... could you make me one too?  Sounds great!

  6. Insurance can be so frustrating. We don't dare be without it and then it doesn't cover the things we need. Mine just went up $20.00, I'm sure because of my illness in January. Now at my birthday in July it will go up again. Paula

  8. I hate grumpy and gloomy days!  Sounds like you got something accomplished at least.  I'm bad about accumulating paper junk, too.

  9. You are so right about the insurance coverage! Are there no local social agencies that can help you with the glasses and hearing aid? You need them!
