Sickday

The school called yesterday. Brook was sick. I was in a panic because I had no car(It blew up Monday), Pat was gone to his uncle's house, and Candiac was who knows where. I started calling around. LOL all at once I had 2 people going for Brook. Pat had turned around and made it to the school. So anyway, Brook walks in the door and I knew right away she was really sick.  She said her tummy hurt and then promptly started throwing up. Poor baby. I gave her some meds and she finally fell asleep. Poor thing. Everytime she woke up she tossed her cookies. Sebastian curled up with her while she was asleep. He has been sleeping with her since she was a baby.

She is feeling better today, weak but better.

a poem

IN THE HEART OF A HORSE

When your day seems out of balance
and so many things go wrong...
When people fight around you
and the day drags on so long...

When parents act like children,
in-laws make you think "Divorce"...
Go out into your pasture...
and wrap your arms around your horse.

His gentle breath enfolds you,
and he watches with those eyes.
He may not have a PhD,
but he is, oh so wise!

His head rests on your shoulder.
You embrace him oh so tight.
He puts your world in balance,
and makes it seem all right.

Your tears they soon stop flowing.
The tension is now eased.
The garbage has been lifted,
and you're quiet and at peace.

So when you need the balance
from circumstances in your day...
The best therapy that you can seek...
is out there eating hay!!

catching up(short form)

I want yesterday back! Darn it. I was hoping that they (the ads)were gone for good. O well.

Had a good day yesterday playing cribbage and dominos with Pat. Then last night I watched  the Hallmark movie "Silver Bells" I cried and laughed. I like movies that make me do that.

I think I am still full from Thanksgiving. I still feel like a turkey, stuffed! We had a good time with just the 5 of us here. Everything was cooked at the same time, I did not burn anything and not one thing was cold except for what was supposed to be cold. Watched some football. Actually I watched 1 game Dallas-Denver. LOL DENVER WON!!! Beat my SonInLaw's Cowboys! LOL

Friday was a do nothing kind of day. Read some journals, played some games, did some laundry. Just generally goofed off. NOPE I DID NOT GO SHOPPING!

Friday night.... well Friday night was different. I went to bed as usual and fell asleep. 1:30 am I am awakened by Pat telling me that there was a bear out by the road! Well I am in a panic. Bears could hurt or kill our horses! I am going "A bear? A bear?" Finally he looked at me and said "not a bear , Belle!" O geez I thought, here we go again! For those who does not know, Belle is our spoiled paint that spent last winter in my front yard because she is a fence jumper!

Needless to say I was not happy with the fact she was out of the fence again. Out in the freezing cold we go to catch her and put her back up.

6:30 in the morning I am up and she is out once again. I get dressed and out I go again (this time I left Pat asleep seeing as how he had to go in to work that morning) I go down front and catch her. She did not want to come with me! She reached for me and lipped my hand that was leading her! I say lipped because she did not use her teeth!

I feed them and go back inside. Pat gets up and I tell him about her getting out again. He leaves for work. And then at 8:30 we do it again! I can see her down front out of the field! It is daylight out now so I can see so off into the field I go with my fence mending bucket. When I get out front Belle takes off running up front towards the barn. I am thinking on shoot. I drop my bucket and head up there running as fast as my fat feet will take me. She is headed to the back where once there she would be gone like a flash! I grab a bucket and start banging on the bottom of it calling her name. A miracle occurred and she stopped! Not only that she turned and came running back to me! Once again I put her in the field and fed them again! So back out front I go. Turns out she was walking over the fence. A wooden cedar post had broken into at the base and fell down taking out a good 15 feet of fence including an old gate. Well I was prepared. Got my wire out and started stringing wire, electric fence wire. Against all hope I was putting this wire up hoping at least to keep her in the field for the day. She comes down there to check it out and tossed her head and went back to the barn!

Here it is Monday and she is still in the field. Seethe deal is, she thinks that those 2 thin wires are electrified!

So now it is Monday and I am hurting. It is raining. I am not looking forward to the kind of weather!

Have a good day and please be careful.

Birds

My 2 cockatiels,Peaches and Chip, have produced a lovely set of babies. We have named them Bebe and Cece. Both babies are Pied so they are very colorful. It has been so much fun watching them grow from eggs to chicks.

It has been an experience watching these 2 parents take care of their babies. So many times they were in the nest for so long that I worried that they would starve to death! Then after the babies hatched I worried that they would still do so! Everything they ate they gave to their babies. They were eating triple what they normally do. I was going through a large bird bread a day in addition to their regular diet. Watching them feed their babies was a treat and a bit scary too. Brook kept telling me that they were hitting their babies in the head!. It does look very violent when they are being fed. After all they are not just putting food in their mouth, they have to shove it down into the baby's crops.

How they grow, and now ...well now I guess they are somewhere in the preteen age stage. LOL They fuss at mama and daddy to feed them yet they want to be independent. They will peck on their parents and of course mama and daddy peck back. They pull tail feathers and hollar. Fly around the cage and sit on the perches.  At night, when asleep on their perches, they sometimes fall off!

They are no longer making a lot of screeching noises(which I did not hear! Thank goodness!) They are starting to make singing notes. I talk to them everyday and whistle a note for them.  Chip(daddy) will talk back to me. He does a wolf whistle. Pat is amazed because he does not respond like that to him. Now Peaches is something else. Pat walks in the room and she lets out a whistle that I can hear! She demands his attention!

That's it for now. Enjoy the pictures. Until next time!

What a day this has been.

What a day this has been.

I left early this morning to drive to the power board to pay the electric bill. It was a cold and dreary morning, with a drizzle of rain that had the feel of sleet in it. Traffic was slow and then came to a standstill when I reached the bottleneck at the red lights. After sitting thru no less than 5 lights after the signals came into my vision I was finally moving on. Not for long though. As I came upon the intersection at Battlefield Parkway, I once again ran into traffic problems. The lights were not working at all and no one was directing traffic. I made it thru there without and incidents and proceeded to get to my destination. After I left there on to Walmart I went. I still needed to pick up a few things for Thanksgiving dinner. I also needed to pick up something for Candiac's birthday. I found the cutest shirt for her, tailored, black with white pinstripes. It's long sleeves had cuffs with rhinestone buttons.

So I leave there and head home. I did not get very far. I noticed that my temperature gauge was slowly rising. I watched as it reached higher and knew I had to pull over. Lucky for me there was a gas station nearby so I could pull up under a cover. Steam started boiling out from under my hood! I was so upset. Finally it cooled down enough for me to open the radiator cap and pull some antifreeze in it. Back on the road again, determined to make it home. I was only about 15 miles from home, surely I would make it. Nope it was not to be. Half way between the exits on the freeway I over heated again. Lucky for me I was on top of a hill and I rolled down until I got to the exit ramp. I could not roll up it though so I was still stuck on the freeway. I am so glad that I have a cell phone now. I called Pat and he came to get me. In the meantime I am sitting there getting colder and hungry.. I eat a banana and hope he hurries! By the time Pat got there I had more trouble. The car would not start! Running the flashers drained my battery enough that it would not turn over. So Pat pushed me with his truck up the ramp and into a parking lot. Jumped me off, filled up my radiator and then back home I go.

More later.

Hello anybody who is still out there

Hello everyone. The ad hoopla is still going on. I have gotten rid of the blinking ads that I see. That is it for me done ,finish, over. Many journals I read have gone over to blogspot/blogger. I hope they are happy. I have a journal over there also although I just deleted it today and opened up a new one there, MyDay,MyThoughts

So anyway life goes on.

Yesterday I went to Brook's school to have lunch with her. It was their Thanksgiving dinner meal. Pretty good cooking going on over there, tradition turkey dinner(cooked with dressing in a pan) and the fixings with the exception of NO PUMPKIN PIE! O well. Afterwards I checked Brook out and she went with me to the store. I needed to get some shopping done for Thanksgiving and lunches.

Before I got my shopping done Brook did a little bit of her own. She bought some gifts for her mama and her papaw. She could not decide on a gift for Johnny. I think I will let her mama take her shopping for that. What we did was pick things out and she put them in lay away. She had a ball. It was funny, every time she would pick something out she would have something else with her. Guess who it would be for? Nope not me, herself! She has this thing for small things. You can take her thru th toy store and tell her to pick out what she wants to get and she always pick out small things, cheap ones too!

After shopping was over we went home and I made some potato soup for dinner. No no showed up except for me and Brook. It was good. If anybody is hungry tonight they will get the same thing, soup and grilled cheese sandwiches on garlic Parmesan bread.

I just laid in bed last nigh having the hardest time sleeping. My legs were aching. Woke up this morning and they were still aching. It did not feel as if they got any rest at all. I am being to think I have that restless leg thing, RLS. Pat said I was jumping in my sleep all night long for the last 2 nights.

Coming down sick I know that. My throat is sore, nose half stopped up and I have a headache. Must remember to drink some more water.

Well need to get back to cleaning house.

So I leave you for the day with a few pictures I took on a recent ride Pat and I went on.

It does work with animated ads but not the still ads. Gonna mess around with a few things and see if I can get rid of all the ads.

Darn IT! I guess it will not work on all the ads.

MY DISCOVERY!

I have discovered the most awesome thing!!! I have found out how to block the ads! I now do not see them on anybody's journal! It was so simple that I do not know how come I never saw it before. Anybody that is AOL can block them. NON AOL people might have to do something else.

If you are AOL look at the bottom of this page and find a box that says

Click that box and if it looks like this  you will not see any ads on AOL pages.

I am finally able to add an entry!

Finally! AOL actually came thru with the right way to add an entry. Here is a copy of their email to me. I highlighted the area that worked for me.

Dear Csandhollow,

I understand from your recent e-mail that you are unable to add an entry to your AOL Journal.
á
There are several possible causes for this, so I have provided a number of solutions. After trying each solution, check to see if it resolved your issue. If it did not, please try the next solution listed. I recommend you save or print a copy of this e-mail for future reference.
á
A. CLEAR THE WEB BROWSER CACHE AND REBUILD THE AOL® ADAPTER
A damaged Web browser cache and/or a damaged AOL Adapter may cause this issue. Windows® networking requires that a network adapter exist for any application that must access the Internet. The AOL software uses the AOL Adapter to access the Internet.
á
ááá 1. Sign off and close the AOL software.
ááá 2. On the end of the Windows® taskbar next to the clock, click the AOL® icon, then click SYSTEM INFORMATION.
á
NOTE: If the AOL icon is not displayed, click the START button, select PROGRAMS or ALL PROGRAMS, select AMERICA ONLINE, then click AOL SYSTEM INFORMATION.
á
ááá 3. Click the OK button.
ááá 4. Click the UTILITIES tab.
ááá 5. In the BROWSER section, next to CURRENT CACHE, click the CLEAR button until the Current Cache Size reads 0 KB.
ááá 6. In the AOL UTILITIES section, next to AOL ADAPTER, click the REBUILD button.
ááá 7. Click the OK button.
ááá 8. Click the CLOSE button.
ááá 9. Restart the computer and launch the AOL software again. The AOL Adapter will be rebuilt automatically.
á
B. RUN WEB UTILITY
Webutil restores system settings to resolve connection and browsing problems.
á
ááá 1. On the end of the Windows taskbar next to the clock, click the AOL icon, then click SYSTEM INFORMATION.
á
NOTE: If the AOL icon is not displayed, click the START button, select PROGRAMS or ALL PROGRAMS, select AMERICA ONLINE, then click AOL SYSTEM INFORMATION.
á
ááá 2. Click the OK button.
ááá 3. Click the UTILITIES tab.
ááá 4. Under NETWORK section, next to WEBUTIL, click the OPEN button. The WebUtil tool will now conduct a system check.
ááá 5. Click the OK button.
ááá 6. Click the CLOSE button.

C. RESET THE WEB SETTINGS IN INTERNET EXPLORER
ááá 1. Click the START button, select PROGRAMS or ALL PROGRAMS, then click INTERNET EXPLORER.

a ride

Pat and I went for a short ride yesterday on the motorcycle. Did not see much beyond the stuff we always see. Nothing stood out except for one brief passing moment. We were riding down Alabama Highway and passed a house that had 3 people in the yard. Nothing unusual about that you say. You are right, nothing unusual. A boy and a girl, probably in their preteens and an older man, (maybe their grandfather or possibly their father or uncle) raking leaves in the yard. What struck me me was just as we were coming upon them the girl ran up to the man and gave him a crushing hug and he responded back with the same. Just gave me a warm feeling inside to see such a public display of pure love.

I salute.

I salute my father for serving in the Marines in WW2. I salute my uncle, Army,POW and Purple Heart, for serving in WW2.  I salute another uncle,Air Force, for serving 30 years, 3 wars. He received numerous awards and several Purple Hearts. I salute Pat's father and 2 uncles, Navy, all POW's, WW2. I salute Pat, Army, Vietnam. I salute all the men and women that have served in our Armed Forces.

Some people may note that I did not say I salute the men and women serving now. There is a reason. This is Veteran's Day. It is a day to honor those that have served.

feeling better

Yesterday was not a good day for me. Felt washed out and on edge all day. Ran a low grade temp all day too.

After I made that entry yesterday about the bad feeling I had upon awakening I started reading my emails. I received one from a friend of mine that had had a bad dream about me the night before. She wanted me to be careful. She had sent me the email before I posted about my feeling I had. Weird.

Did some waxing today. Made the bike shine like a new penny.

Had to change the ring tone on my phone. It was scaring the birds.

Went shopping. Today is my new son-in-law's birthday. Poor boy does not know what cold weather is. I bought him a jacket.

Looked on Ebay today. I am looking at Dallas Cowboys stuff. That is my son-in-law's favorite team.

Going to bed now. Can't seem to get enough sleep.

babies

So now how about an update on the babies?

I cannot believe how fast they grow! They still do not have any hair..oops.. feathers on their heads but the fuzz is starting to show.

For the past week I have been watching them test out their little wings, hopping from one perch to another. Slowly but surely they have learned how to fly. Another thing that has been fun is seeing them try food. They pick it up and drop then they pick it up again. It is so funny when they actually manage to swallow a piece of food. They start craning their head around, bobbing up and down, then with a final shake of their heads they reach for another piece.  When their crops are empty, Mama and daddy come to the rescue and start craming food down their throats. They will perch on my finger now although it takes a litle bit of coaxing to get them to climb on. Whenever I bring one outside the cage Chip insists on coming out too. He is very protective of his babies. Today I had Bebe out, he is the pied male baby, and CeCe came out the door and started flying aroung the room! Well that got Peaches upset and she started hollaring and flying, which got Chip flying. At that monent Bebe took off! So now the wholle family is flying around the room and everyone is in a panic. Mama and daddy want their little ones back home, Pat is afraid that a cat will get the babies(none were in the house) and Brook is jumping up and down squealing. These babies can FLY!!! They can almost hover like a butterfly or a hummingbird! Not once did they fly into a wall! can't say that about their mama! Smack into a wall she went. I guess she was trying to guide the babies home. So that was my excitement for the weekend.

wedding update~part 2

So after the wedding and reception was over with Iprepared to leave. I loaded up my car with a few items (actually a lot of items! My car was full!) and headed out. I was the last to leave except for the couple that was finishing up the cleaning. Hopped in my car and NOTHING!!!! My battery was dead.. Backing up now... The day before I took my jumper box out of the car to make room for all the stuff I had to carry.... BIG MISTAKE!!!! The young couple there had no jumper cables so that was a bust. I started calling around. Funny how when there is a need NOBODY ANSWERS THE PHONE!!! I am getting cold. It is getting dark and I do not have a coat with me. Finally after blowing up Pat's voicemail he answers the phone. It takes him about 20 minutes but he gets there and jumps me off. By this time I am tired and all I want to do is cry. We head for home unsure of what the rest of the day will bring.

Once home I download the camera. What a disappointment when I started viewing some of the pictures. All of the pictures of the ceremony were blurred. I just knew that I should have taken the pictures! But no, had to trust someone that claimed they knew how to do it. Luckily other people were there taking pictures. So I should manage to get some.

After a bit we get a phone call asking us if we were going to come to the party. Johnny's boss threw him a party in an upstairs room at the restaurant he works at. We decide that we would show up so we changed into more comfortable clothes. We get there and it is going in full stream. Music playing, couples dancing, people eating and of courses there was some drinking. the owner set up a keg of beer on tap and a margarita machine. There were plenty of chips and dip, cheese sauce, and ordering of food. This was a Mexician restaurant so I had a good time eating! And yes, there were plenty of designated drivers.

One of the things they did was a dance. The men(and some women) pinned money on the bride's dress and then had a dance with her. The same thing with the groom. Soon they were covered in money! I helped her unpin it and there were bills ranging from $1 to $100! Everyone had a good time.

As the evening slowed down, Pat and I presented our gift to the couple. We had gotten them a room with a jacuzzi init for their wedding night. It had a 2pm check out time also so they could sleep in. They were thrilled because that was the one thing that they forgot about! They forgot to plan for their first night as a married couple! They enjoyed it so much that they got the room for another night!

It is Friday and they are still smiling!

yankee or rebel?

This has been around before. For those of you who might have not seen it, here it is. Are you a Yankee or a Rebel?

Take the test again if you have already done so or take it for the first time. Leave your results here or in your own journal.

My results were.... Are you ready for this?..... 89% (Dixie).  Do you still use Confederate money?

Catch up 1

Let's do a bit of catching up starting with the wedding!

Friday was the rehearsal dinner. It started out a bit slow as Johnny's family from out of town got slightly lost! That was no problem. It gave me time to get things finished. I had cooked green beans, sweet corn and baked beans. I got fried chicken from Walmart and a cake for dessert. Actually it was several kinds of chocolate cake. It was soo good! Dinner went off really well. Afterwards we rehearsed the wedding ceremony.

After figuring everything out everyone left. I stayed a bit later and set up some stuff for the reception.

The big day dawned bright and early. Off I went to the dry cleaners to pick up the dress and Pat's suit, then to Walmart to pickup the cakes. Next to the church to drop everything off. Back home again with a quick stop at Sonic for a couple toaster breakfast sandwiches. Had to eat! Got home and put rollers in hair, ate, and gave Pat his instructions.

Next Brook and I loaded up in the car with our dresses and stuff and back to the church.

Upon arrival at the church I unloaded everything and get busy. Liz, the matron of honor shows up and starts helping me get stuff ready. Very quickly we start putting sandwiches together and cutting them. Johnny shows up and starts cutting the cheese. Soon Johnny's sister shows up and the show really gets moving.

Finally everything is ready and the girls and I go get ready. Rollers are removed and curling irons heated up. Faces get washed, actually only one face. Brook somehow had blue and black all over her face! Thank goodness it came off. I swear that child was clean when we got there!   We are ready.

The guests are arriving. BUT there is a problem! No BRIDE!!!! Finally 5 minutes to go and she gets there. Luckily hair and makeup is done! The dress, slip and shoes go on. All 30 buttons get buttoned on dress and we are ready! She was so beautiful!

Another problem, the mother of the groom is lost. They get to the church and now we are ready.

Rings tied to pillow, flowers in hand , music going, the procession begins. Nothing went according to rehearsal but it all went well I think. Mothers walked down together, then the Cutie pie of a ring bearer. Next came Liz in her red dress followed by the stunning flower girl tossing her red petals. Then my beautiful daughter comes down the aisle escorted by the most handsome man there, Pat.

The ceremony went pretty good with a small moment when the rings would not untie from the pillow.  I was a bit surprised with the vows. She actually elected to leave the words to obey in it. It is so rare to hear that nowadays. Finally they are husband and wife.

The reception went well. Everyone seemed to have a grand time. Lots of laughter, a few tears, smiles everywhere. Food disappearing as fast as it was being put out. Soon it was clean up time. Everyone pitched in and a couple we did not even know told all to leave and they would finish things up.

A good day.

quickie

Everything is going well. I am trying to catch up with everything. I will try to post a real entry tonight. Have pictures to upload and stories to tell. Need to clean house and do laundry too!
