changes

There are changes in the air here. I am not just talking about leaves changing and cold weather coming on.

Pat had a talk with his new boss yesterday. He was told that he(new boss) is putting a young guy on first shift that has not been with the company very long. He is going to give him top pay with the top position. Basically he told Pat that he was too old and there is no place for him. He has given this company 20 years. With everything that has happened at work this week and last he is tired of it all. It has made home life a bit tense as you can imagine. Today he did something about it. He put in for a job in another place and it is looking good. All that is needed is for aproval to come from home office. So possibly in less than a month he will be somewhere else. Yes, changing jobs come with a risk. they could fire him in 90 days for no reason. Actually in TN you can be fired at anytime for no reason and not be able to collect unemployment. Another risk is, he could be jumping from the frying pan into the fire. We may have to tighten our belts some, and right at the time of the year with all the holidays and taxes are due and a bunch of other stuff. But we will survive.

Oh yea. They will be starting him out more per hour with a raise in 90 days.

Time to go get Brook from the bus stop. Take care.

  2. Hi Celeste,  I hope that Pat gets the new job, after so long in the old one and with no appreciation from his boss, I don`t blame him for moving on.

  4. Good for PAT!!! G. has faced this kind of thing in the past also. He has over 20 years of experience handling exotic animals (elephants in particular) and he has been places where they will turn around and give a snot nosed kid fresh out of school a position equal to his. Now, I understand that a degree is a good thing, but good old fashioned experience is often better! Those kids may have 'book learning', but they haven't seen (or handled) a lot of this stuff in the real world. The real world is often much different than acadamia! I hope Pat not only gets the new job but loves it!

  5. I am happy to hear that Pat is taking the bull by the horn so to speak and doing something about his employment instead of waiting for his "old" boss to do his thing...whatever it is...and he isn't much of a boss when he takes younger over experience ... hooray for Pat....and he will do fine....and you all take it one day at a time...resting in the strength of the Lord to carry you thru....love conquers all....or so I am told....and I believe it too...hang tough...together...all things are possible...Hugs from KY....Ora

  10. Sometimes I think that change is the only answer.  I feel like this is age discrimination for him and it's a shame. The new prospect sounds very promising.  I will look forward to hearing positive news of Pat's new job! Many blessings to you both, Penny http://journals.aol.com/firestormkids04/FromHeretoThere

Tell Pat I wish him the best of luck in his new position at the new location.  I hope the commute to the new location does not cause any hardships.  I think he made the right decision based on what you wrote here.

  12. YOU KNOW, ISN'T IT A SAD THING TO KNOW THAT AFTER YOU GIVE A COMPANY 20 YEARS OF YOUR LIFE TO HELP THEM GROW AND PROSPER, THEY HAVE NO MERCY FOR YOU....NO LOYALTY.....I AM SORRY IT HAS HAD TO COME TO THIS FOR PAT, CELESTE...MAKES ME MAD, BUT THEN AGAIN, THINGS TEND TO HAPPEN FOR A REASON...I HOPE AND PRAY PAT GETS THE BETTER JOB...
I WILL KEEP MY FINGERS CROSSED.
    LOVE YA,
    CARLENE

  14. I'll keep my fingers crossed.  It's actually pretty easy to collect unemployment in Tennessee, despite this being a right-to-work state.  However, I'll keep my fingers crossed that will never be necessary.
