BUGSSSSS

Here we go again. It is that time of the year when head lice gets going around. Yes I know it is a year round thing but the fall and the first real cool weather seems to increase the instances of head lice in school.

Last week Brook was sent home with the bugs. Not a fun thing. I allowed her mama to take care of it. She shampooed her hair with the stuff and combed her out. Did all the other stuff too I assumed. Well today the school calls me again. "Come get Brook, she has the bugs again." I was totally teed off. I call the doctor for a script of the good stuff. There is no way I am going to be doing this every week! After picking up Brook I asked her if her mama did certain things and come to find out that there were many things she did not do. Simple basic things like wash all the sheets and towels, vacuum, wash the pillows on Brook's bed. Now my head is itching! As a precaution I will be treating my head too! I hate this! I will be keeping Brook here with me until my daughter can do what needs to be done, including treating her head and her husband's head. Going to the store and getting a BIG jar of mayo too! and some bonnets and some more vacuum cleaner bags. Oh happy day.

I better put some moving along happy music on so I can get this stuff done!

  1. Celeste I have heard if you put hair conditioning on after shampooing ~ the kind you can leave in your hair the nits can't stick to the hair ~ anything is worth a try where lice are concerned ~ such horrible little bugs to pick up ~ hope you clear them up soon ~ Ally

  2. when my granddaughter had the "head lice"...we too had repeat occurrances....got rid of stuffed animals....bedding...she slept in sleeping bag...one pillow covered with plastic...outside it went ever day...still was having problems....we bought an electric hair straightener at Walmart....and every day...a time or two...I used that sucker on her hair....and it either fried them or killed them....cause it works LOLOL....she has long hair...now Cameron....we just cut his off short shorter and shortest LOLOL....so far this year....we are ok...but you know...when they go to school...I send a plastic bag for them to put their coats and stuff inside...will try anything .... anything at all....hope all works out for Brook....and for you....Hugs from KY...Ora

  3. Rachel fought this in her youngest daughter for a year!  I hate to think about it being "the season" again.

  4. ack! now my head is itching and Ive never had to deal with those nasty little buggers.

Thank my lucky stars, when my 12 yo was younger and in school, he never caught them. In the school where he went to headstart and kindergarden, there was always lice going around every year. It disappeared when this one family moved away and the kids quit going to school there. How sad for those children. Its not dirty to catch lice, anyone can, but its dirty to keep it!

Good luck on your job of getting rid of them! Ill send you some energy vibes :)

  6. I had three daughters who came home from school with it and it was horrible.  They and I all had waist long hair and getting those critters out was horrible.  And washing everything.  It was so much work.  But I did it!!!  And my little one just didn't spend the night over at the girl's house she brought it home from anymore either.  I wish you the best of luck and don't tire yourself out.  I EXHAUSTED MYSELF!!!

  7. Hi Celeste,  I`m starting to itch already...lol!  I remember those days very well.  I prayed that my daughter with her long blonde hair would be spared the little monsters and she was.  My son however caught them about once a year while in junior school.  I still remember the smell of the horrible stuff I had to use on his hair...:o(

  9. Oh, good luck getting rid of the little critters! But if her mom didn't get rid of them, she could get them back. I hope her mom cleans everything appropriately! I used to see some really, really bad cases of them when I did protective services. Luckily, they never followed me home. I checked every day.

  12. I so pray I never go throught that with my daughter..I had to deal with it when Mark's kids came to visit every single time...it was heck getting them out of Trista's long hair and Carlie's is way longer than hers was at the time...and they are talking about coming to visit next month...I am gonna start praying now...LOL...Good luck they say they are really getting harder to get rid of with just one shampoo!  Takecare,TerryAnn

  13. Oh, Lord, we seem to go through this about once a year--last time it was over two hundred dollars since the girls have long hair and we get the good stuff from the doctor right away...

  14. OK>..with five kids and since I've been through head lice quite a few times...the only thing that worked for me..was after I de-bugged them and did my best to get the eggs...I saturated their hair with vaseline for two weeks....they got zits on their forehead but any new bugs cant survive in vaseline....took care of it each time...I just put their hair in a pony tail or made them wear a hat to school....it was the only way I knew it would be gone...for good...and its easier....I didnt have to pick through their hair again...-Raven
