Saturday was all about Brook with a little of us thrown in LOL.
Saturday Brook was in the 4th YONG-IN University Presidential Cup International Tae Kwon Do Championship. It was great! Kids and adults from different parts of the world competing against each other in their chosen sport, Tae Kwon Do. Opening ceremonies were like any other sporting event, speeches, and the National Anthem. There was also an awesome performance by the YONG-IN Demo team. These kids and young adults have truly worked hard at developing their skills.
Brook competed in the 10-11 year old girl Black Belt. She was in one of the upper weight classes(105 pounds is upper weight class????? I only wish!) I am so proud of her. While breaking her boards one of the board holders let go of the board and caused her to not break it. On the next attempt she broke the board. She had great form for her breaking and the boards flew through the air upon breaking them. The next event she participated in was sparring. This was her first ever sparring event and I could not be more pleased with her. It was two (1) minute rounds with lots of kicking and punching. The rounds accumulate points with the opening score of the second round being the ending score of the first round. Brook scored first and racked up more points winning round 1. In the second round the girl she was fighting came back and racked up more points winning the contest between them. I was so proud of her. Her first ever fight. The girl she was sparring with was a seasoned fighter and she was a second Dan. Brook held her own and did not back down. All in all she placed 3rd in breaking and 3rd in sparring for her division. She is looking forward to competing again. Now that she knows what needs to be done she will be able to improve.
Dag ... I am proud of her as well!! You do know at 105, she is as big as the average ADULT flyweight boxer ... LOL!
ReplyDeleteBut being able to kick butt, she will never worry about anyone saying anything about nothing!!
