Scrubs needed for new job

Help is needed once again. Can you give a hand up?

Scrubs needed for new job

This Mom is not a blogger, but found this blog while searching the Net:

I am in need of a scrub set for my daughter's job. After putting in over 200 applications my daughter is going to work at a hospice job starting August 24th. She is the mother of a 3 year old little girl and we live with my 84 year old mother. She can wear her regular clothing to the first week of book work, but on the second week she will be going out and will wear scrubs. She doesn't have any scrub tops or pants to wear. She will not get a pay check before then either as she gets paid biweekly and will work 3 weeks before she gets her check. Her first check will have to go for food and bills. She won't be able to afford to buy any scrubs for a while. I was wondering if someone out there might have some scrub tops or scrub pants on hand that they don't need anymore in a size medium. They can be any color. The tops can be print, flower or solid. I would appreciate any help anyone can give us. Thanks everyone in advance.

Please contact me @ Frankandmary@aol.com if you can help. ~Mary

Give a Hand Up

Can you remember being a young married couple? Imagine being a young married couple with nothing. How about extending a Hand Up to this young couple. He is a disabled young man and she is just returning from a tour in Iraq. The request is for a card but I think we can do a little bit more. Read the letter here on Give a Hand up.

Motorcycle class

I am exhausted both mentally and physically. There is so much to learn and so little time to do it in. My shoulders, legs, back even hair hurt from having spent all day on a bike doing stuff I have never done. Weaving in and out of cones, pausing without putting feet down, stopping fast, shifting in a curve and more things I cannot even remember right now. I honestly do not know if I will pass this class or not. I can tell you this, it has been a big learning experience. My head hurts. I have been drinking water all day but I know I am still a bit dehydrated. It was a hot scorching day out in the sun. We started with 9 people in the class, 6 females 3 males. Of those 9 people only 1 has really ridden a bike. By the end of the first exercise we had 1 bike dropped. The lady riding that bike left the class. It turns out that she did not even know how to ride a bicycle and had no idea how to balance on 2 wheels.

I am off now. My head hurts and I am tired, very tired. I have to get up tomorrow and do it again. Wish me luck. I will need it.

Learning is fun

Life around here has been full of excitement for me. I love learning new things and this is a biggie! Pat has been taking me to the high school to ride the bike in the parking lot there. Around and around in circles I have been going. Riding circles to the left and circles to the right, over and over again. I am learning to keep my balance and use the brakes.

The next day we moved to a different part of the lot that had no speed humps and was basically a road behind the school that went to the dismissal door. There I learned to pick up speed. The thrill of it! Feeling the wind blow against my body, the vibrations of the motor under my hinney, the power with every twist of the throttle, all combined to give me a joy I never thought I would experience. In that session I learned how to shift gears smoothly which require to use your left hand and left foot for the gears and your right hand to roll back on the throttle a bit (still working on that one). How to use both brakes , right hand and right foot at the same time. Did you know that 70% of a motorcycle's braking power is in the front brakes? I also spent some time on learning to make tighter turns. Those are hard. I am having to deal with the fear of turning over on those turns.

Now I know there are a few wanting to know if I have dropped the bike. The answer is yes. I dropped it the second time I rode it in the driveway at home. It was not bad. I stopped on a slight uprise and the bike rolled back fast. I was not prepared and the running board on the right hit my leg and over we went. The left side running board caught the bike and kept it from going too far over and of course my foot on the ground! I have a very large bruise and lump on my right shin about the size of half a grapefruit !

My MSF class starts Friday the 14th. I have been studying the material I have along with the GA Motorcycle Drivers Manual. I am looking forward to the class. I wish Pat could take the class but it is during his work hours and so that will be impossible.

On to another subject. LOL I am continuing to take the exercise class. Pat is encouraging me and that is a good incentive for me. I have lost 7 pounds since the 7th of July. That is encouraging for me. I am not getting sore after the classes so I may step it up a notch. I know I need to do more than 2 hours a week of exercise no matter how intense that exercise is that I am doing. We are in 90 degree days again so walking is hard until after dark and that is not good in an area that has no streetlights. I do live out in the country you know and we do have wild animals out here.

Ok I am out of here before I bore you entirely to death.

Saturday and Tae Kwon Do

Saturday was all about Brook with a little of us thrown in LOL.
Saturday Brook was in the 4th YONG-IN University Presidential Cup International Tae Kwon Do Championship. It was great! Kids and adults from different parts of the world competing against each other in their chosen sport, Tae Kwon Do. Opening ceremonies were like any other sporting event, speeches, and the National Anthem. There was also an awesome performance by the YONG-IN Demo team. These kids and young adults have truly worked hard at developing their skills.

Brook competed in the 10-11 year old girl Black Belt. She was in one of the upper weight classes(105 pounds is upper weight class????? I only wish!) I am so proud of her. While breaking her boards one of the board holders let go of the board and caused her to not break it. On the next attempt she broke the board. She had great form for her breaking and the boards flew through the air upon breaking them. The next event she participated in was sparring. This was her first ever sparring event and I could not be more pleased with her. It was two (1) minute rounds with lots of kicking and punching. The rounds accumulate points with the opening score of the second round being the ending score of the first round. Brook scored first and racked up more points winning round 1. In the second round the girl she was fighting came back and racked up more points winning the contest between them. I was so proud of her. Her first ever fight. The girl she was sparring with was a seasoned fighter and she was a second Dan. Brook held her own and did not back down. All in all she placed 3rd in breaking and 3rd in sparring for her division. She is looking forward to competing again. Now that she knows what needs to be done she will be able to improve.
