rain, horses, jobs, what a combination

Brook has started her allergy shots and she is not liking it. She did admit that it did not hurt as much as she thought it would. I promised her a treat when she got them, unfortunately I am not taking her at this time.I now have 2 treats to get her. LOL She had her second shot today.

Crystal is doing much better. Her heel is healing up well. With any luck by the time spring gets here she will be rideable

The rain is back but not hard like it was last time. This time it would be able to soak in if the ground was not already saturated! With the amount of rain we have had, you would think that we would be out of a drought situation. Not so. We still need more water. The lakes are looking better, lakes do look better with water in them.LOL We will see.

Last night was the last night for Brook's weapons class. There is another one next month but I believe she will not be taking that one.

Candiac and Johnny are talking again about moving to Texas. I dread that when it happens. There are no jobs here for Candy. She will not be able to keep living here without work and because of her convicted felon status she is not able to get any help from the state. That is so wrong. She served her time, her probation period is over and she has stayed straight. One mistake and she is screwed for life.

I about had a heart attack. I checked to see what my electric bill is for this month and it is $200. That hurts!

Pat was informed at work that they may cut back to 32 hours a week. That will hurt.

Time is ticking down to my teeth coming out on Monday. That will hurt.

Tae Kwon Do and stuff

I looked back and realized that I have not been posting regularly enough. Too much information is being left out so this entry will be an attempt to catch everyone up with what has been happening.
Saturday Brook had outdoor training for black belts. It was a biter cold day. 3 hours of doing whatever in the cold. One thing they had to do that Master Lee did not have the younger ones do was get in the creek. I felt sorry for those that had to do that. I am not sure that I would have been able to do that unless I was going in after someone. One thing they did was cut bamboo with a samurai sword. The weapons class is going well. I was pleased with how many people are taking it. Sometimes there is not many taking the extra classes. It is nice to see Corey back in the classes again. The kids really like him. He is a good young man.
Oh yes. Brook started her allergy shots yesterday. She was not happy with it but it is something she needs. She will be glad she had them when she gets older.
10 more days and I become a toothless hag! LOL Well maybe not a hag but I will be toothless. Do not expect any photos of me smiling during the time that I have no teeth which will be about 3-4 months. My dentist wants me to wait that long for several reasons, diabetes, and the condition my gum and bone is in right now. He said I really need to heal before putting anything in my mouth. Hopefully I will lose weight! A liquid and mush diet should accomplish that.
Crystal is doing better, I think. The hussy broke out of the yard last night and went back into the field. Her foot was oozing yesterday so we put her back into the yard to keep a better eye on it. Now she is back in the field and I have to find the broken fence and fix it AND catch her to put her back in the yard at least for the day.
Okay. Time to fix breakfast and get busy. Talk to y'all later.

computer

I might be off line for a bit. I am using a borrowed computer that has to be returned tonight. My monitor died and there are no funds to replace it.

New president, new Era

Today a new president was sworn in. Today and everyday we need to work on getting this country stable again. Today and everyday we must come together and work. Our new President will not wave a magic wand and make everything rosy again. It will take WORK. Nothing good comes easy. Change will take WORK.

My message to Mr President Obama: Strength to you in your battle to govern this country and bring us back from the hole we are in. I will help in what way I can.

Cold, pain, and horses

It is cold here tonight. I know it is not as cold here as it is in some places (Donna in Missouri)BUT>>>>THIS IS GEORGIA!!!! It is 16 degrees with a wind chill of 4. That is cold and it is to get colder. It is now 15. Dang I better quit saying how cold it is!. Anyway I do not mind the cold so much because I have a warm home to be in. there are people and animals out there that will not survive the night because they are outside trying to survive. The homeless shelters are packed as full as they can safely do so. There will be people asleep in hospital lobbys and police will take people in to the station for loitering or something else just so they will have a warm place to be for the night. Even though, we will hear about someone that has died due to the cold. People forget about the animals. Sure they have fur coats but they are not polar bears(at least most aren't). They cannot build a fire or go into a Waffle House for a cup of coffee to get warm.
If you have any blankets that are just sitting around and never used, winter coats you have outgrown, take them to the shelters. They will be greatly appreciated.

We have a hurt horse. Crystal hurt her leg pretty bad. NOT the right weather to do that sort of thing. Not sure what happened. We believe she got into some barbed wire some where. This happened yesterday. Today her leg is swollen up to her knee. The vet left us some bute and a tetanus shot in the cooler outside the office. Real cool. They trust us to pay and others to not steal it. Country. She is in so much pain. It hurts me to see her. In addition to the shot and pain meds, I have to wash her leg at least once a day and apply some ointment to the cut 3 times a day. Hopefully she is not crippled by this. She is cut at her fetlock. For those of you that do not know what I am talking about, here is a link to a page so you can see It is part #16

The doctor released me. No need to go back until next year. Now I have to make an appointment with my other doctor to get bloodwork. I have gained 15 pound in 4 weeks. That is pretty much a good sign my thyroid is out of whack. I am really hating this.

Anyway life goes on.

beware

IMPORTANT MESSAGE You've heard about people who have been abducted and had their kidneys removed by black-market organ thieves.

My
thighs were stolen from me during the night a few years ago. I went to sleep and woke up with someone else's thighs. It was just that quick. The replacements had the texture of cooked oatmeal. Whose thighs were these and what happened to mine? I spent the entire summer looking for my thighs. Finally, hurt and angry, I resigned myself to living out my life in jeans. And then the thieves struck again.

My
butt was next. I knew it was the same gang, because they took pains to match my new rear-end to the thighs they had stuck me with earlier. But my new butt was attached at least three inches lower than my original! I realized I'd have to give up my jeans in favor of long skirts.

Two years ago I realized my
arms had been switched. One morning I was fixing my hair and was horrified to see the flesh of my upper arm swing to and fro with the motion of the hairbrush. This was really getting scary - my body was being replaced one section at a time. What could they do to me next?

When my poor
neck suddenly disappeared and was replaced with a turkey neck, I decided to tell my story. Women of the world, wake up and smell the coffee! Those 'plastic' surgeons are using REAL replacement body parts - stolen from you and me! The next time someone you know has something 'lifted', look again - was it lifted from you?

TH IS IS NOT A HOAX. This is happening to women everywhere every night.
WARN YOUR FRIENDS!

P.S. Last year I thought someone had stolen my Boobs. I was lying in bed and they were gone! But when I jumped out of bed, I was relieved to see that they had just been hiding in my armpits as I slept. Now I keep them hidden in my waistband

Nothing special

Sometimes it is just hard to get started on things. I feel so lazy at times, actually all the time.

I don't remember if I shared the news. Brook won first place in the county for her category on her 4H project. She did it on the Water Cycle. At the end of this month she goes to the regional and compete there. I am proud of her.

Had fun plast night. The horses decided they were tired of a flooded pasture and barn. They decided to leave home. Late last night I get a call that my horses and goat were up the street. So I get dressed, put my mud boots on and head out. I got them home after first dragging through water half up to my knees trying to catch a stupid horse that STILL does not know which driveway is ours.( Not MY horse, it was Pat's horse. MY horse is perfect! LOLOLOL) I had a feeling it was going to be a long night. They got out again. This time they stayed in the yard. Pat put a rope up across the driveway to confine them for the night after he got home from work. Today they are still in the yard even though the fence is fixed. They are enjoying the fresh grass. I don't mind them in the yard. The chickens scratch up the poop so that is no problem. And frankly I enjoy looking out and seeing them.

I made pinto beans cooked with ham, and cornbread for dinner tonight. I had enough to share so I gave the kids some. I started cooking them last night in the crookpot. It makes the best beans. The house will be fragnant and musical for the next day or 2 LOL.

I am thinking I need to revisit Flylady I need to get a jump start again on this mess I am living in.

Normal? NOT

Well I was hoping things would get back to normal. Well maybe they really are, I am just not pleased with it! Normal is not 4 inches of rain in 12 hours with no sign of a let up. That's right. It started raining early this morning and it is flooding! In one week we have had 5 inches of rain. That is okay except it all came in the last 48 hours! I just got a phone call from the school notifying us that the school will be closed tomorrow due to flooding. I like the new system they have started this year. We all get a call and a text message when school is to be closed, delayed or let out early. Beats getting up at 5 to listen to the news!

I made a trip to the dentist today. I have an appointment next month to get teeth pulled. Actually I will be getting them all pulled. It is something I have know was coming for a long time. It will be nice to not have bleeding gums and aching teeth again. By the 4th of July I should have a nice pretty set of choppers. He is recommending that I wait 3-6 months before getting falsies so I can heal good. I have already suffered bone loss. Being diabetic I will also heal slower. One month later Pat will be getting his teeth pulled also. Well, we will be running around with matching toothless smiles! LOL

Brook started a weapons class tonight. She will be learning to fight with a short staff. It will be good for her. He is teaching them how to defend themselves with what they can get their hands on. The classes are starting to get pretty physical. I wish I was in it. It would be a good thing for me. But alas, I am not able to do that sort of thing yet.

The horses are not happy with all the rain. The goat is even sadder. He has trouble crossing the flooded field and he hates being out in the rain. I worry about all the mud and water they have to deal with but there are no options. IF we had some heavy equipment and lots of money we could fix the flooding in the fields. A pond would be nice with an over flow that leads to the creek. A new culvert for the driveway and an elevation in one part of the driveway with a culvert pipe there also.

Ok I need to get off here and fold socks and towels. Sounds normal! LOLOL

Normal

Life will be getting back to normal somehow or another. I will be posting a longer entry later today. This is just to say thank you for bearing with me in my times of outages.

Not the best start

Well I did not have the best start to the new year. First thing I had to get up early to take Brook to the asthma doctor. They ran a full battery of tests for her asthma including allergy testing again. She was not a happy camper. we were there for 4 hours! The good news is that she can stop taking her Advair. She is to take Singular anda nose spray. Oh yes, she also starts allergy shots every week starting next month. For a farm girl she got bad news. tested bad to all the grasses, some trees, and cats! Now that is the one that killed her! AND that is the one that finally made her less mad about the shots. Most of the rest of New Year's Eve was spent at Pat's mother's bedside. We went home that evening and spent the actual ball dropping at home. The next day, we get up to go for a ride on the bike and the battery was dead. No ride. We get a call that his mother was getting worse so we head up there. The rest of the day was spent at her bedside. Pat and I went home around 10 pm. We get the call a 4 that she was fading fast so we got dressed and headed up there. I was already half awake since I was expecting the call. The rest of the morning was spent with his family and making arrangements. I then took Pat to his dentist appointment. OUCH that will be one expensive trip that we make back in February! He is to have the bottom teeth removed and some bone smoothing done as he is pretty bumpy. That will make the plates fit beter. He will then get full choppers. We then came home and I figured we would die. But nope that was not to happen. I then started arranging a memorial service for Hazel. No one wanted to do it as they were afraid it would cost money. I was NOT going to let her death go by without some recognization of her life. I have the church and music lined up for Sunday, and food for afterwards. I typed up the obit and a short note for the pastor with some additional info. Topday I need to go pick up a photo album and some pictuires and make up a display for people to see. She was cremated so thwere is no body to say goodbye to.
