I am finally able to add an entry!

Finally! AOL actually came thru with the right way to add an entry. Here is a copy of their email to me. I highlighted the area that worked for me.

Dear Csandhollow,

I understand from your recent e-mail that you are unable to add an entry to your AOL Journal.
á
There are several possible causes for this, so I have provided a number of solutions. After trying each solution, check to see if it resolved your issue. If it did not, please try the next solution listed. I recommend you save or print a copy of this e-mail for future reference.
á
A. CLEAR THE WEB BROWSER CACHE AND REBUILD THE AOL® ADAPTER
A damaged Web browser cache and/or a damaged AOL Adapter may cause this issue. Windows® networking requires that a network adapter exist for any application that must access the Internet. The AOL software uses the AOL Adapter to access the Internet.
á
ááá 1. Sign off and close the AOL software.
ááá 2. On the end of the Windows® taskbar next to the clock, click the AOL® icon, then click SYSTEM INFORMATION.
á
NOTE: If the AOL icon is not displayed, click the START button, select PROGRAMS or ALL PROGRAMS, select AMERICA ONLINE, then click AOL SYSTEM INFORMATION.
á
ááá 3. Click the OK button.
ááá 4. Click the UTILITIES tab.
ááá 5. In the BROWSER section, next to CURRENT CACHE, click the CLEAR button until the Current Cache Size reads 0 KB.
ááá 6. In the AOL UTILITIES section, next to AOL ADAPTER, click the REBUILD button.
ááá 7. Click the OK button.
ááá 8. Click the CLOSE button.
ááá 9. Restart the computer and launch the AOL software again. The AOL Adapter will be rebuilt automatically.
á
B. RUN WEB UTILITY
Webutil restores system settings to resolve connection and browsing problems.
á
ááá 1. On the end of the Windows taskbar next to the clock, click the AOL icon, then click SYSTEM INFORMATION.
á
NOTE: If the AOL icon is not displayed, click the START button, select PROGRAMS or ALL PROGRAMS, select AMERICA ONLINE, then click AOL SYSTEM INFORMATION.
á
ááá 2. Click the OK button.
ááá 3. Click the UTILITIES tab.
ááá 4. Under NETWORK section, next to WEBUTIL, click the OPEN button. The WebUtil tool will now conduct a system check.
ááá 5. Click the OK button.
ááá 6. Click the CLOSE button.

C. RESET THE WEB SETTINGS IN INTERNET EXPLORER
ááá 1. Click the START button, select PROGRAMS or ALL PROGRAMS, then click INTERNET EXPLORER.
ááá 2. On the menu bar, click TOOLS, then click INTERNET OPTIONS.
ááá 3. Click the PROGRAMS tab.
ááá 4. Click RESET WEB SETTINGS.
ááá 5. Click the YES button.
ááá 6. Click the OK button.
ááá 7. Click the OK button to close the Internet Properties window.
ááá 8. Click the X in the upper right corner to close the Internet Explorer window.
á
D. RESTORE THE INTERNET EXPLORER SECURITY SETTINGS
ááá 1. Please close any Web pages that may be open.
ááá 2. Click the START button, select PROGRAMS or ALL PROGRAMS, then click INTERNET EXPLORER.
ááá 3. On the menu bar, click TOOLS, then click INTERNET OPTIONS.
ááá 4. Click the SECURITY tab.
ááá 5. Click the DEFAULT LEVEL button, then click the OK button.
ááá 6. Click the X in the upper right corner to close the Internet Explorer window.

I hope I have provided a solution that resolves the issue.

  6. Yeah, I had that problem where I had no buttons for adding entries or editting my journal too.  I went to tech support, sat there for 1/2 an hour going through it all with them.  They ended up telling me that it was a technical problem on their end and the only thing they could recommend to me was to REPLACE my journal with a new one.
Then after awhile I went back to my journal and ta-da! Just like magic my buttons were suddenly back.  LOL
I just wanted to stop and say thanks for the comment you left.

  9. I am so (and please excuse me but there is no other word I can put here) FUCKING happy that you are able to put entries! Especially considering the next entry that BLOCKS the heinous banner ads!
    I love you!

  10. I hope you did not clear your cache and rebuild your adapter!!!   I did that on advice from AOL and it has destroyed several things on my computer.  I can now post but several things are now wrong with my computer.  How is your computer doing?  For one thing my Radio@AOL won't work.  I was on TECH Help for a half hour today and they couldn't get it to work for me today.

Yes, I am still sticking with AOL and AOL journals.  I will get the bugs worked out of my computer eventually.  I don't want to leave my journalling community.
